Why choose The Solo Female Traveler Network?
We design every trip with one goal in mind: to make solo travel easier, safer, and more meaningful for women. You don’t have to plan, research, or stress about the details — we handle everything so you can focus on experiencing the world.
Our small-group tours bring together women who share your curiosity and spirit of adventure. Many travelers stay in touch long after the trip ends, which says a lot about the kind of people who join us and the environments we create.
Each itinerary blends cultural depth with comfort and ease. We partner with women-led businesses wherever possible and include experiences you won’t find in a guidebook — from home-cooked meals with local families to traditions and festivals few travelers get to see.
There are no hidden costs or surprise add-ons. Activities, meals, transfers, and guides are all included in the price. All you need to do is book your flight, pack your bags, and show up ready for an unforgettable adventure.

Who will I be Traveling with?
We know that the idea of joining a group of strangers can feel intimidating, but here’s the truth: SoFe trips attract women who just get it. Adventurous, open-minded travelers who are curious about the world and ready to experience it fully.
Our travelers range in age, but they tend to have a few things in common: they value meaningful experiences, crave connection without pressure, and have the kind of curiosity that makes travel fun. Whether she’s in her 20s or her 70s, every woman on your trip chose to show up solo and see the world her own way. And that’s what makes the group dynamic so special.
What's included in the price?
Almost everything. We believe in clear, up-front pricing — no hidden fees, no surprise add-ons. When you travel with SoFe, nearly every part of your adventure is taken care of so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.
Each trip page includes a detailed breakdown, but in general, your payment covers:
All accommodations, carefully chosen for comfort, authenticity, and location — from boutique city hotels to riads, mountain lodges, or jungle retreats.
In-country transportation, including private vehicles and internal flights where needed.
Airport transfers on the first day of the tour (as long as you arrive and depart within the listed time window).
Expert local guides, most of whom are women, who handle the details, keep the group running smoothly, and show you their countries with pride and passion.
Immersive experiences that bring you closer to local culture — cooking classes, festivals, artisan workshops, nature excursions, and more.
Most meals, including all breakfasts and many lunches or dinners at trusted local restaurants and family-run establishments.
All entrance fees and activities listed in your itinerary.
- Almost all the tips. We cover all hotel porters, tips for service on all included meals, day guides, and everything. The only tip we don’t include is for your guide who is with you for the entire tour.
So what’s not included?
Not much:
Your international flights to and from the destination.
A few meals left open so you can explore local restaurants on your own.
Tips for your local guide (we’ll provide a suggested guide before you travel).
Travel insurance (required for all travelers, but we’ll help you find a policy that fits your plans).
Visa fees, where applicable.
Our pricing is designed to make travel easier — you’ll always know exactly what’s covered before you go, so you can simply show up ready for adventure.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We know travel is a big investment, so we make it easy to pay in a way that works for you. Once you’ve reserved your spot, you can log into your account anytime and make payments of any amount, whenever you’d like — as long as your trip is paid in full 90 days before departure (for most destinations).
We also offer flexible payment options through Affirm and Klarna, so you can split your balance into smaller installments over time.
If you’d like help setting up a plan or exploring your options, just reach out — we’re happy to walk you through it.
Can I bring a friend or family member?
Yes, absolutely! While most of our travelers join solo, friends, family members, and partners are welcome too. Just let us know when you book so we can make sure there’s space — we limit the number of non-solo pairs on each trip to keep the group dynamic balanced.
If there’s ever an issue with your booking, we’ll let you know right away. But in most cases, you’ll be all set to join — and share an unforgettable adventure together.
How will you match me with a roommate?
Unless you’ve chosen to upgrade to a private room, you’ll be matched with one roommate for the duration of your trip. To make sure it’s a great fit, we use a custom roommate matching quiz created in collaboration with a psychologist and matchmaker.
The quiz helps us pair travelers based on personality, preferences, and travel habits — so you’re matched with someone you’ll actually enjoy sharing a room with. Most of our travelers say their roommate ends up being one of their favorite parts of the trip.
How do flights work?
Because SoFe travelers join us from all over the world, everyone books their own international flights and meets the group on Day 1 of the tour.
Are international flights included?
No — international flights to and from your destination are not included. However, any domestic or internal flightslisted in your itinerary are fully covered by SoFe. Each trip page includes detailed arrival and departure information to make booking simple.
When should I book my flight?
We recommend waiting until your trip is guaranteed to depart before purchasing flights. If it’s not guaranteed at the time of booking, we’ll notify you by email as soon as it is.
Are airport transfers included?
Yes — your arrival transfer is included as long as you arrive on Day 1 of the tour (or book a pre-night at the same starting hotel) and share your flight details with us at least 30 days before departure.
Departure transfers are typically not included since travelers often extend their stay or leave at different times, but your tour leader can help arrange one if needed.
What happens when I arrive?
You’ll be greeted at the airport by a SoFe representative or driver and taken directly to the starting hotel. If you arrive early or extend your trip, we’re happy to help coordinate extra nights and logistics upon request.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes — travel insurance is mandatory on all SoFe Meetup Tours. It’s important that your policy provides full coverage in case of medical emergencies, cancellations, or unexpected events while you travel.
At a minimum, your policy must cover:
Medical expenses, including emergency repatriation
Personal accident and death
All medical and emergency costs, including Covid-19
Cancellation and curtailment, both before and during your trip
Delays and missed connections
Baggage loss, damage, or theft
All activities listed in your itinerary
We also strongly recommend a policy that includes coverage for personal liability and any pre-existing medical conditions.
If you’re traveling within your home country or region, please confirm that you can access public medical care easily in case of an emergency.
For international trips, you’ll need to show proof of travel insurance — including your insurer’s 24-hour emergency contact number — before joining the group. Travelers without valid insurance will not be permitted to start the tour.
Can I add extra nights at the hotel if I arrive early or stay longer?
Yes, absolutely. If you’d like to arrive a little early or extend your stay after the tour, we can arrange additional hotel nights for you at the same property used for your trip.
Just let us know after booking, and we’ll take care of the arrangements based on availability and your travel plans. It’s a great way to settle in before your adventure begins — or unwind a little longer once it ends.

Don’t take it from us. Hear what Aiheeya, a 10x SoFe Traveler has to say…
Is it really solo travel if I’m going with a group?
Absolutely. You’re still a solo traveler; you’ve just chosen a smarter, safer, and more connected way to see the world.
How you get out there doesn’t matter, what matters is that you go. You’re still showing up brave, independent, and curious enough to do something most people only dream about.
Our tours include dedicated Solo Time on almost every itinerary, giving you space to explore at your own pace, wander off for coffee, journal, shop, or simply soak it all in. You’ll have freedom when you want it, and company when you crave it, the best of both worlds.
Traveling with SoFe isn’t a shortcut; it’s a choice to experience the world with confidence, depth, and ease.
Why do SoFe tours cost more than some other group trips?
It’s a common misconception. When you compare what’s actually included, SoFe trips offer exceptional value for the quality and care that go into every detail.
Our adventures are designed for women who want meaningful, immersive travel — with comfort, safety, and authenticity built in. We stay in boutique hotels, riads, and lodges chosen for their character and connection to local life, not because they’re the easiest to book. Meals highlight local flavors, and our experiences are led by trusted local guides and women-led partners you wouldn’t find on a typical group trip.
As a solo traveler, you’ll share a twin room (unless you’ve upgraded to private), enjoy thoughtfully curated activities that would be hard to arrange alone, and know that almost everything — from meals to transport — is included upfront.
From the moment you reserve your spot to the day you return home, every element is designed to make travel easy, meaningful, and unforgettable — so you can focus on what really matters: the adventure itself.
What makes SoFe tours different from traditional group travel?
SoFe tours are built for women who want adventure, independence, and connection — without the hassle of going it alone or the cookie-cutter feel of traditional group travel.
Our groups are small, intentionally designed so you never feel like part of a crowd. Every itinerary is crafted around authentic, meaningful experiences — not tourist traps or rushed photo stops. We partner with local women and expert guides, stay in boutique accommodations, and include experiences that connect you to the culture, not just the landmarks.
We also understand what it means to travel solo as a woman. From thoughtful roommate matching to built-in Solo Timefor exploring on your own, we balance freedom and community in a way that makes travel feel both personal and effortless.
SoFe isn’t just about seeing the world — it’s about how you see it: confidently, deeply, and surrounded by women who get it.
What's the group like?
Who will be on my trip?
We know that the idea of joining a group of strangers can feel intimidating, but here’s the truth: SoFe trips attract women who just get it. Adventurous, open-minded travelers who are curious about the world and ready to experience it fully.
Our travelers range in age, but they tend to have a few things in common: they value meaningful experiences, crave connection without pressure, and have the kind of curiosity that makes travel fun. Whether she’s in her 20s or her 70s, every woman on your trip chose to show up solo and see the world her own way. And that’s what makes the group dynamic so special.
Where do SoFe travelers come from?
Our travelers come from every corner of the globe, it’s one of the things that makes each trip so special. Because we’re home to the world’s largest community of solo female travelers, you’ll meet women from all walks of life and many different countries. Most of our travelers join us from the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and Canada, but you’ll often find women from Europe, Asia, and beyond sharing stories over dinner too.
How big are the groups?
Our groups are intentionally small — usually between 12 and 14 women. That’s the sweet spot: big enough for deeper connection, but small enough that everyone feels included and connected.
Smaller groups also mean we can slip into local restaurants, stay in boutique hotels, and have the kind of authentic experiences the big buses can’t touch.
Do you have age guidelines?
Nope. We welcome women of all ages on every tour. We believe that when women come together with a shared love of travel, curiosity, and connection, age doesn’t matter. You’ll find a mix of travelers from women in their 20s discovering solo travel for the first time to those in their 60s or 70s who’ve made adventure a lifelong habit. What unites everyone isn’t age, it’s spirit.
What’s the room setup like?
All our tours are priced based on sharing a twin room with another traveler, and it’s one of the easiest and most meaningful ways to make a new friend. Even women who are nervous about sharing usually end up saying it’s one of their favorite parts of the trip.
We don’t just pair people randomly. You’ll take our Roommate Matchmaker Quiz, a short, bespoke questionnaire designed with the help of a psychologist and professional matchmaker to pair you with the most compatible roommate on your tour. It covers things like sleep habits, preferences, and social energy, so your match feels natural from day one.
Prefer your own space? Most tours also offer the option to upgrade to a private room for an additional cost. These are limited and tend to go quickly, so we recommend booking early if solo space is important to you.
Can I request to room with someone specific?
Yes, absolutely! If you’re traveling with a friend, just let us know when you book — or send us an email afterward — and we’ll make sure you’re roomed together. Both travelers simply need to request each other so we can confirm the match.
Are private rooms available on every trip?
Yes, on most tours, private rooms are available in every accommodation along the way. However, every now and then we include a special feature stay where private rooms just aren’t possible, like an overnight on a traditional felucca in Egypt or a glamping experience in the desert.
It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, we’ll always note it clearly in the itinerary so you’ll know what to expect before you book.
What’s the minimum number of travelers you run a trip with?
Our minimum group size varies by destination, but we keep it small enough to feel personal and connected while ensuring the trip runs smoothly.
If a tour is “guaranteed,” it means it’s already met the minimum number of travelers and is 100% confirmed to run. If it’s “available,” it just means we’re still building the group, though most trips do go ahead as planned.
Either way, we’ll always keep you updated so you can plan with confidence.
Can I organize a private group trip with my friends?
Yes! If you have a group of eight or more women, we can create a private SoFe departure just for you. You’ll enjoy all the same immersive experiences, women-led partnerships, and incredible local guides — but with your own hand-picked crew.
Our Travel Experts will help tailor the trip dates and details to fit your group’s needs. Just reach out to us to start planning your private adventure.
Choosing Your Adventure
How do I know which trip is right for me?
Each SoFe trip has its own vibe. Some are full of adventure, others are rooted in culture, and some are designed for pure relaxation and connection. The best way to find your perfect fit is to use our trip finder page, where you can filter by activity level, dates, destination, or even how you want to feel when you come home.
And if you’re still not sure, our Travel Experts are happy to help match you with the trip that fits your comfort level, curiosity, and travel goals.
How physically fit do I need to be to join a SoFe adventure?
Every SoFe trip includes some level of activity, it just depends on the destination. At minimum, you should feel comfortable walking for stretches of time or over uneven, cobblestone streets.
While none of our tours are overly strenuous, some include light hiking, bike rides, or water-based activities. You’ll always find the activity level listed on each itinerary so you can choose what feels right for you. And remember, you never have to join any activity that makes you feel uncomfortable.
If you’re unsure whether a trip is a good fit, just reach out to us, we’re happy to help you find the perfect adventure for your comfort level.
How much free time will I have on tour?
Our itineraries are thoughtfully planned to make the most of each destination, so while every trip includes some solo or unstructured time, these tours are designed to be shared experiences.
Some itineraries naturally allow for more downtime, a free afternoon in a coastal town or a morning to wander local shops, while others are more full, especially when logistics or remote locations make flexibility tricky.
You’re always welcome to skip an activity if you need a break, as long as it doesn’t affect the group’s transportation or schedule. If having extra solo time is important to you, just reach out to us and we can help you find the itinerary that fits best.
Can you accommodate my dietary needs?
Yes, we do our best to accommodate common dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other similar preferences. We’ll share your dietary requirements with our local partners in advance, and your SoFe guide will also be aware before the tour begins so they can help you navigate meals along the way.
That said, dining options vary by destination. In some places, certain ingredients or preparation methods might be limited, so we can’t always guarantee that every meal will perfectly match your preferences, especially when it comes to highly specific or lifestyle-based requests.
If you have a severe allergy, please use caution and avoid foods where cross-contamination might be a risk. Be sure to bring any essential medication or allergy treatments, and let your guide know as soon as you arrive.
And if there are snacks, supplements, or essentials you can’t live without, we always recommend bringing them from home, just in case.
Can I skip an activity if I need a break?
Absolutely. You’re never required to join every activity on the itinerary. We know everyone has different energy levels and interests, and it’s perfectly fine to sit something out if you need a little downtime.
Before your trip, we can offer suggestions for quiet alternatives, and during the tour, your guide can help you make arrangements if you’d prefer to rest, explore on your own, or simply recharge.
Just keep in mind that in some cases, logistics, like transportation or remote locations may limit when it’s possible to opt out. Your comfort and enjoyment always come first, so we’ll do our best to help you find what works for you.
Can I customize my itinerary?
Our itineraries aren’t customizable, as we’ve already included a ton of amazing experiences for you, but there’s still room for flexibility. Most trips include some free time that you can spend however you like, and you’re always welcome to skip an activity if you’d rather rest or explore on your own.
We don’t book add-ons or extras in advance, but your SoFe guide will be happy to share local suggestions and help you make the most of your downtime. Many travelers find that once the group bonds, they want to experience it all together – but the choice is always yours.
Do you have a waitlist for sold-out tours?
We do! If the tour you’re eyeing is sold out, you can join the waitlist directly on the trip page. If a spot opens up, we’ll contact people on the list in the order they signed up, so the earlier you join, the better your chances.
We’ll also send you updates about future departures so you don’t miss your next opportunity to join that adventure.
I have specific travel dates in mind — what are my options?
You can browse all of our upcoming tours by date on the Trip Finder page to see what fits your schedule. If you don’t see a perfect match, you can also join the waitlist for a destination you love, we’re always adding new departures throughout the year.
And if you’re traveling with friends or a group of eight or more, we can even organize a private SoFe departure tailored to your preferred dates. Just reach out to our Travel Experts to start planning.
When do you launch new trips?
We release new tours throughout the year as soon as they’re ready — especially around mid-year, when many of our next-season adventures go live.
The best way to stay in the loop is to join our email list. Subscribers always get first access to new trips (and the best rooms) before they’re announced anywhere else.

Are international flights included?
No, international flights to and from your destination are not included.
Yes, your arrival transfer is included as long as you arrive on Day 1 of the tour (or book a pre-night at the same starting hotel) and share your flight details with us at least 30 days before departure.
Departure transfers are typically not included since travelers often extend their stay or leave at different times, but your tour leader can help arrange one if needed.

Preparing for your Trip
Do you book or include flights?
International flights to and from your destination are not included in the price of your SoFe tour. Because our travelers join from all over the world, we leave those flights flexible so you can choose the route, airline, and timing that work best for you.
Any domestic or internal flights listed in your itinerary are included and arranged for you — no extra cost or coordination needed.
If you’d like help figuring out the best arrival or departure times, our team is always happy to advise before you book. However, we do not book flights for you.
What do I need to know about passports?
You’ll need a valid passport to travel on all SoFe international tours. Most countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your return date, so it’s a good idea to double-check the expiration before you book.
If your passport is close to expiring, we recommend renewing it early, as processing times can vary. You’ll also need a few blank pages for entry stamps and visas, depending on your destination.
If you’re joining a domestic or regional tour within your home country, a passport may not be required — check your trip page or email us if you’re unsure.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, travel insurance is mandatory on all SoFe Meetup Tours.
Can SoFe help me with visas?
We’ll guide you through the process as much as we can, but we don’t issue or process visas directly.
Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and the destination you’re visiting. Each SoFe trip page includes basic entry information, but it’s important to check the most up-to-date requirements through your local embassy or official government website before you travel.
If you need supporting documents for your visa application, such as hotel details or a tour confirmation letter, we’re happy to provide them once your booking is confirmed. Just email our team, and we’ll help you with what you need.
What vaccinations do I need?
Vaccination requirements vary by destination, and it’s always best to consult your doctor or a certified travel health clinic well before departure. They can give you the most accurate advice based on your medical history and the latest guidance for the countries you’ll visit.
Each SoFe trip page includes general health information to help you start your research, but official requirements can change, especially for destinations in Africa, Asia, and South America.
We also recommend checking the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) or WHO (World Health Organization) websites for the most up-to-date travel health recommendations.
Can you send me a packing list?
Yes, once you’ve booked your trip, you’ll receive our Important Traveler Information Guide, which includes a detailed packing list and everything else you’ll need to prepare for your specific destination.
The guide covers what to pack, cultural notes, weather tips, local customs, money, safety info, and more all tailored to your exact trip.
We don’t send packing lists before booking since each tour and season is different, but rest assured, once you’re confirmed, you’ll have everything you need to feel fully prepared.
When will I receive my detailed itinerary?
Once your trip is guaranteed to depart, you’ll receive access to your Important Traveler Information Guide, which includes packing suggestions, visa and entry details, travel insurance guidance, and more.
Your final, detailed itinerary will be sent about 30 days before your trip. This version includes hotel information, timing, and all confirmed details for your group.
While changes are rare, updates can happen as we finalize logistics with our local partners, typically small adjustments to timing or hotels to ensure the best experience possible.
When can I connect with my fellow travelers?
You’ll be added to your group’s private WhatsApp chat about 10 days before departure. It’s the perfect place to introduce yourself, share excitement, and coordinate things like arrival times or airport transfers.
Your SoFe Tour Leader will also join the chat to help answer last-minute questions and make sure everyone’s ready for the adventure ahead.
What are the hotels like on my trip?
You can find general hotel information on each trip page under the “What’s Included” section, including the style and standard of accommodation, plus any unique or special stays. At the bottom of the page, you’ll also see examples of the hotels we typically use — but please note that these aren’t guaranteed for every departure.
Once your trip is guaranteed to depart, you’ll receive your final itinerary by email (around 30 days before your tour).
Until that time, small changes may occur as we finalize arrangements with our local partners. The hotels listed on the trip page are always representative of the quality and character you can expect throughout your journey.
Can I do laundry during my tour?
Many hotels offer laundry services or facilities for an additional cost, but not all. Talk to your tour guide, and she will help you arrange laundry at the best hotel on your itinerary.
What time is hotel check-in, and can I use the facilities before check-in?
Check-in times vary by property, but most hotels allow you to check in from around 2–3pm. If you arrive early, you can usually make use of the hotel facilities — like the lounge, pool (where available), or luggage storage while you wait for your room.
If you’re arriving several hours before check-in and would prefer to have a room ready when you arrive, we recommend booking a pre-night at the same hotel. It’s not mandatory, but it can make your arrival more comfortable. We also suggest choosing flexible cancellation terms, as hotel assignments can occasionally change up to 30 days before departure.
Will I stay at all the featured hotels listed on the trip page?
The hotels shown on each trip page are examples of the types of accommodations we use: boutique, locally owned, and chosen for their comfort and character. While we aim to use these same properties whenever possible, they’re not guaranteed for every departure.
Occasionally, we’ll make substitutions based on availability, season, or local events. Any changes will always be to a hotel of a similar standard and style, and we’ll share your final confirmed list about 30 days before departure.
Where can I find information for my visa application form?
All the details you’ll need for your visa application including hotel names, addresses, and trip dates can be found in your Important Traveler Information Guide, which you’ll receive once your trip is guaranteed.
If you need any additional information or supporting documents for your visa, just contact us by email, and our team will be happy to provide what’s needed.
How much time is spent traveling each day?
It varies depending on your destination and itinerary. Some days involve short drives between nearby towns or experiences, while others include longer travel days, especially in countries where distances are greater or internal flights are required.
We design every itinerary to balance adventure and ease, so even on travel days, you’ll have plenty of stops, scenic routes, or cultural experiences along the way. Details about travel times are always included in your daily itinerary, which you’ll receive about 30 days before departure.
During your Trip
How does SoFe keep travelers safe?
Your safety is at the center of every SoFe tour. We carefully choose accommodations that meet our standards for comfort and security, work with trusted local guides who know their communities, and include private, pre-arranged transportation from the moment you arrive.
Our small-group format means you’re never traveling alone unless you want to be, and your local guide is always available to support you, whether that means navigating cultural differences, helping with logistics, or handling unexpected situations.
Each destination is thoroughly vetted by our team of women travelers, and we continuously update our safety practices based on local insights and traveler feedback.
You can read more about how we prioritize women’s safety here.
What type of accommodation can I expect on my tour?
We choose boutique hotels and local stays that reflect the character of each destination. Whenever possible, we avoid large chain hotels so your experience feels authentic, comfortable, and connected to the culture around you.
You can expect accommodations that are safe, clean, and well-rated, with a great level of service and attention to detail.
Each trip page shows examples of the kinds of hotels we typically use, but please note that not every departure will include the exact same properties. Your final confirmed hotels will be shared in your detailed itinerary about 30 days before your trip.
Can an itinerary change?
Please be aware that the itinerary, activities, and hotels are subject to change. These changes are rare but can happen with little notice due to availability, weather, seasonal conditions, or other circumstances beyond our control. We always do our best to make sure any adjustments have minimal impact on your experience.
From time to time, we may also update or swap an activity to try something new and keep our trips fresh and exciting. If that happens, we’ll always do our best to communicate it in advance.
How do you ensure a positive group experience on tour?
At SoFe, our goal is to create meaningful adventures where solo women connect, share experiences, and often leave with new friendships that last long after the trip. Each group brings together women from different backgrounds, and our local guides are skilled at helping everyone feel comfortable and included from the very beginning.
We encourage all travelers to bring an open mind, patience, and kindness. Simple gestures like inviting someone new to join a conversation or sitting together at meals help create a welcoming group atmosphere.
Respect is essential on every SoFe trip. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that is disrespectful, discriminatory, or inappropriate. If you ever feel uncomfortable or see something that does not feel right, please let your guide or our team know right away. We take every concern seriously and handle them with care and discretion.
Travel can come with surprises, and a positive attitude helps turn unexpected moments into some of the most memorable parts of the journey. With your openness and our support, we will make sure your experience is everything you hoped for and more.
How are medical situations handled on trips?
Your safety and well-being are our top priorities. Every SoFe tour is supported by trusted local guides who are trained to assist in case of illness or injury and know where to find the nearest reputable medical facilities.
If you ever need medical attention, your guide will help coordinate care, arrange transportation if necessary, and make sure you are supported throughout the process. For serious situations, we will contact your travel insurance provider and assist with communication or emergency arrangements.
We also recommend bringing any essential medications in their original packaging, along with a copy of your prescription, in case of travel delays or customs checks.
Is my airport transfer private?
Your airport transfer is private to SoFe travelers but may be shared with others arriving around the same time. This helps us keep things efficient while still ensuring a comfortable and safe arrival experience.
If you are arriving early and have booked a pre-night at the same hotel where your tour begins, your transfer will still be included as long as you share your flight details with us at least 30 days before departure.
If you prefer a completely private transfer, we can help arrange one for an additional cost.
How do I find my driver at the airport?
When you arrive, look for a driver holding a SoFe sign in the arrivals area after you exit customs. Your Important Traveler Information Guide will include specific instructions about where to meet your driver and what to expect at your destination’s airport.
If you have any trouble finding your transfer, check your Important Travel Information Guide and your email for your emergency contact phone number. Our local partners monitor flight arrivals, so even if things are busy, someone will be there to greet you.
What if I can’t find my transfer at the airport?
If you cannot find your driver, stay in the designated meeting area listed in your Important Traveler Information Guide, call the local emergency contact number, sent to you via email and also in your Important Traveler Information Guide. They can help locate your driver quickly.
Your local guide will also be in your group WhatsApp chat, so if you have trouble on arrival, you can message them directly for help.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We understand flight delays happen, which is why we ask that you provide your flight details at least 30 days before departure as part of your onboarding. This allows our local team to prepare and monitor your arrival.
If your flight changes before your trip begins, please email us with the updated details so we can share them with our local partners.
If your flight is delayed on the day of travel, contact the local emergency number listed in your Important Traveler Information Guide to let them know your new arrival time. If you miss the window for your included transfer, then we can arrange a transfer to our starting hotel at your own expense. Be sure to keep your receipt, as you may be able to claim this cost through your travel insurance.
What should I do if the airline loses my luggage?
If your luggage is misplaced by the airline, the first step is to file a claim directly with the airline before leaving the airport. They will provide a report and may offer a small amount of compensation to cover essentials until your luggage is found. Keep this report, as you’ll need it for your travel insurance claim.
Next, contact your travel insurance provider to begin a lost luggage claim if your policy includes this coverage.
Airlines typically require you to collect your baggage yourself once it has been recovered. If you are already traveling with the group, you can either return to the airport to retrieve it or wait until a more convenient time to do so.
Your local guide can assist with logistics, such as arranging transportation, but any associated expenses are your responsibility. Unfortunately, SoFe cannot offer compensation for missed tour time due to lost luggage, but you may be able to recover these costs through your insurance provider.
To prevent major inconvenience, we strongly recommend packing essential items and at least one change of clothes in your carry-on bag.
Can I use my credit card while traveling?
In most destinations, major credit cards like Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and larger shops. However, some smaller businesses, markets, or rural areas may only take cash.
We recommend bringing a mix of payment options, including a credit card, a debit or travel card, and some local currency for small purchases or tips. Always notify your bank before traveling to avoid any issues with international transactions.
Your Important Traveler Information Guide will include any important destination-specific advice about accessing money and making payments during your trip.
American Express is not accepted everywhere, so it is best to have an alternative card as backup.
Where can I conveniently withdraw cash?
Most ATMs around the world accept standard debit or travel cards, allowing you to withdraw cash much like you would at home. Keep in mind that withdrawals usually include your bank’s exchange rate and an international transaction fee. Your local guide can help you find the nearest ATM once you arrive.
While it is possible to carry cash and exchange it at the airport, currency exchange booths are not always available, especially in smaller towns or remote destinations. For this reason, using ATMs is usually the most practical and reliable option.
Specific details about accessing money in your destination can be found in your Important Traveler Information Guide, which is provided once your trip is guaranteed.
Can I use my phone in other countries?
Many mobile providers offer international roaming plans that you can add to your existing account for a fixed daily or weekly cost. This is often the easiest option if you want to stay connected for calls, texts, or data while traveling.
Another option is to purchase a local SIM card or eSIM once you arrive, which can be more affordable for longer trips or destinations with higher roaming fees. Keep in mind that preloaded data can run out quickly, so monitor your usage if you plan to rely on mobile data.
For personalized advice on the best option for your destination and phone plan, we recommend checking with your mobile service provider before you travel.
Will I have reliable internet at every hotel?
While most hotels provide Wi-Fi for guests, we cannot guarantee the reliability or speed of the connection. In rural or remote areas, service can be intermittent, and in larger hotels, internet speeds may slow down when many guests are online at the same time.
If reliable internet access is essential for your needs, we recommend checking with your mobile provider before you travel about international data plans or mobile internet solutions that can help you stay connected throughout your trip.
Can I join the tour after it’s started?
We strongly advise against joining a tour after it has begun. Day One is an important part of the experience, giving you the chance to meet your group, get comfortable, and start forming the connections that make SoFe trips so special.
Logistically, most of our tours travel to a new location by the second day, which would require you to arrange and pay for your own transportation to meet the group. Please note that we do not offer discounts or partial refunds for anyone who joins a trip after the official start date.
Can I leave the tour early?
It varies depending on your destination and itinerary. Some days involve short drives between nearby towns or experiences, while others include longer travel days, especially in countries where distances are greater or internal flights are required.
We design every itinerary to balance adventure and ease, so even on travel days, you’ll have plenty of stops, scenic routes, or cultural experiences along the way. Details about travel times are always included in your daily itinerary, which you’ll receive about 30 days before departure.
Can you suggest activities to do before or after my adventure?
Our itineraries are designed to give you a complete and memorable experience while keeping your safety and comfort a priority. For now, we focus on perfecting these journeys rather than arranging add-ons or extended stays.
That said, your local guide will be happy to share favorite local spots and insider recommendations in your group WhatsApp chat before and during your trip.
If you plan to extend your travels independently, we recommend doing some research in advance, reviewing your government’s travel advice, and confirming that your insurance covers any additional activities or destinations.
My tour includes alcohol, but I don't drink.
You’re absolutely welcome, whether you drink or not. Some SoFe itineraries include experiences like wine tastings or local brewery visits, but participation is always optional. If you’d prefer a non-alcoholic option, just let us know after booking and our local team will be happy to arrange an alternative.
Our trips are about connection, culture, and good company, not alcohol. You’ll never miss out on the experience or the moment.
