Why Choose SoFe Travel?
Built for Solo Women
Every trip is designed specifically for solo female travelers. That means no awkward third wheels, no feeling like the odd one out—just instant community, shared values, and support from Day One.
Real Connection
Almost everyone arrives solo, and 92% of our travelers stay in touch long after the trip ends. It’s not just a tour—it’s a chance to make lifelong friendships in some of the world’s most unforgettable places.
Space to Breathe
We build in solo time, always. Want to wander a market alone or skip a group dinner for some quiet? Go for it. Prefer a travel buddy? There's always someone ready to join you. You do you—with the comfort of community when you want it.
No Forced Single Supplements
Forget the extra fees. Our roommate matching quiz pairs you with a like-minded traveler, or you can upgrade to a private room if you prefer your own space.
Is The Kyrgyzstan Tour Right for you?
YURT NIGHTS (REAL, COZY, SIMPLE)
We stay in traditional yurt camps in Chon-Kemin and Song-Kul. Think thick felt walls, toasty stoves, and big-sky silence. Facilities are shared and simple, and there’s usually no Wi-Fi—perfect for star-gazing and real conversation.
HORSE TREK OPTIONAL
The classic route to Song-Kul is on horseback (about 5 hours over Tuz Ashuu Pass). Never ridden? Guides match you to gentle horses and keep the pace easy. Prefer not to ride? A scenic jeep transfer gets you there just as beautifully.
ROAD DAYS + MOUNTAIN AIR
Kyrgyzstan is wide open—some drives are 2–4 hours with picture stops for towers, gorges, and lake views. Terrain is mostly paved with a few bumpy bits near villages. We balance drive time with walks, markets, and plenty of tea breaks.
PACE & WALKING
This trip moves at a full but unhurried pace. Expect daily strolls on uneven ground, light hikes, and a few stair climbs (Burana Tower, viewpoints). Supportive walking shoes > cute sandals.
Your Kyrgyzstan Itinerary
Day 1 - WELCOME TO BISHKEK!
Welcome to Kyrgyzstan! Arrival, Welcome Meeting, and Dinner
Touch down in Bishkek, where the snow-dusted peaks of the Tian Shan Mountains rise in the distance and the air feels crisp and clean. Our representative will be waiting at the airport to greet you before transferring you to our hotel.
We recommend scheduling your flight to arrive by 3:00 pm on Day 1, so you’ll have time to settle in, unpack, and rest before the group welcome meeting at 6:00 pm.
After the welcome meeting, we’ll gather for our first dinner together at a local restaurant, where we’ll celebrate the start of our journey and you’ll enjoy your first taste of Kyrgyz hospitality and food. Expect hearty dishes, warm conversation, and the start of what’s sure to be an unforgettable trip.
Meals: dinner
Day 2 - The spirit of nomads
Explore Bishkek’s vibrant history, create art with your own hands, and witness the magic of the World Nomad Games begin.
Wake up in Bishkek, the charming capital of Kyrgyzstan — a city where Soviet architecture meets leafy boulevards, open parks, and a steady rhythm of daily life. Originally founded as a Russian garrison named Pishpek in the late 19th century, Bishkek blossomed during the Soviet era into the vibrant, tree-lined city you’ll explore today.
After breakfast, we’ll set out on a guided walking tour through the city center. Together we’ll visit Ala-Too Square, the White House, Old Square, and Victory Square, each offering a glimpse into the city’s unique blend of history and modern energy. Along the way, your local guide will share stories that bring Bishkek’s past — and its people — to life.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the workshop of renowned Kyrgyz felt artist Aidai Asangulova, whose work has been showcased around the world. Under her expert guidance, you’ll have the chance to create your own silk-felt scarf, learning an ancient craft that is deeply rooted in nomadic culture and creativity.
As the sun sets, we’ll head together to the Opening Ceremony of the World Nomad Games, held at Bishkek’s brand-new national stadium. The evening will be filled with vibrant performances, traditional music, and the electric spirit of Kyrgyz pride.
Fittingly, it’s also Kyrgyzstan’s Independence Day. After the ceremony, we’ll head back to town and watch the fireworks and concert at Ala-Too Square — a perfect ending to a day celebrating culture, craft, and community.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
Day 3 - Ancient tower, valley life, yurt night
Step into Silk Road time, then trade city buzz for valley hush and a star-drenched yurt night.
After breakfast, we leave the city behind and set out on one of Kyrgyzstan’s most scenic drives — winding mountain roads that open into sweeping valleys and timeless villages. Our first stop is the Burana Tower, a remarkable 11th-century minaret that’s all that remains of the ancient Silk Road city of Balasagun, once the capital of the Karakhanid Empire. Climb the narrow spiral staircase to the top for a breathtaking view over the Chuy Valley, and wander among the balbals — weathered stone figures carved centuries ago to honor the dead. Afterward, we’ll stop for a home-cooked lunch with a local family, where you can taste traditional Kyrgyz dishes and experience the warmth of village life.
The journey continues into the mountains, where the landscapes grow wilder and greener as we enter the Chon-Kemin Valley. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive at our comfortable yurt camp, surrounded by rolling hills and open skies — the perfect place to unwind and take in the quiet beauty of the region.
This afternoon, you can choose your own adventure:
• Option 1: Saddle up for a half-day horseback ride through Chon-Kemin Nature Park, following trails through alpine meadows and finishing in a nearby village.
• Option 2: Join a guided walk to a mountain viewpoint, a relaxed two-hour hike offering stunning views of the valley below.
As evening falls, settle into your yurt, share stories over dinner, and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of mountain life.
Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Drive time: 4 hours
Day 4 - Nomad culture and lake time
From Valley to Vast Blue — mountain roads, nomadic games, and your first glimpse of Issyk-Kul.
The morning begins with mountain air and one last look at the peaceful Chon-Kemin Valley before we set off toward Lake Issyk-Kul, the world’s second-largest alpine lake. Nestled at 1,600 meters and ringed by the snow-dusted Tien Shan peaks, Issyk-Kul shimmers with shifting shades of blue. Our journey follows the lake’s northern shore, leading us to the town of Cholpon-Ata. We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the hippodrome, where the energy of Kyrgyz tradition comes alive. Watch local riders showcase their skills in thrilling horse games and nomadic sports, a proud reflection of the country’s deep-rooted heritage.
Next, we’ll visit Rukh Ordo, an open-air museum by the lakeshore that beautifully blends spirituality, art, and history. Stroll among its striking sculptures and pavilions — a celebration of both Kyrgyz culture and universal human connection.
By late afternoon, we arrive at our lakefront resort, where time slows down. Take a swim in the clear waters, relax on the beach, or simply sit back and enjoy the mountain views glowing in the golden light of sunset.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
Drive time: 3 hours
Day 5 - Watch the World Nomad Games
A day in the heart of Kyrgyz tradition.
Leaving the calm shores of Issyk-Kul behind, we continue our journey eastward toward Karakol, a charming town framed by peaks at the far end of the lake. The road winds between shimmering water and green foothills, leading us into the Semenov Gorge, where the spirit of the World Nomad Games comes alive.
Here, a vibrant yurt village fills the valley — a living celebration of Kyrgyz culture. The air hums with music, laughter, and the rhythm of hooves. Watch eagle hunters demonstrate their ancient bond with these majestic birds, cheer on archers on horseback, and wander among stalls offering nomadic cuisine, crafts, and colorful displays of traditional life. Between the performances and the mountain scenery, this is one of those moments that feels both timeless and unforgettable.
After an afternoon immersed in culture and mountains, we continue our drive to Karakol, arriving in the early evening. Settle into your hotel and enjoy a quiet evening in this laid-back town
Meals: breakfast, lunch
Drive time: 4 hours
Day 6 - Sacred architecture, market bites, makers
Taste the town’s layered soul—mosque and wooden church, market nibbles, women makers, and lagman noodles
Once a Russian military outpost founded in 1869, Karakol today is a lively mix of cultures and stories. Explorers once set out from here to map the peaks separating Kyrgyzstan from China, and in the 1880s, Dungan refugees—Chinese Muslims fleeing war—brought their traditions and cuisine to the region.
This morning, explore Karakol’s most fascinating landmarks: the Dungan Mosque, built entirely of wood without a single nail; the beautiful Russian Orthodox Church, standing proud since 1869; and the Przhevalsky Museum, dedicated to the famed Russian explorer who made Central Asia his life’s work. A visit to the local market offers a taste of everyday life, full of color and spice.
We’ll also meet a representative of the One Village, One Product cooperative, learning how local artisans create sustainable goods that support village economies. In the evening, there’s an optional visit to the Aksu-Kench hot springs for a soak surrounded by nature. Dinner tonight is a highlight — we’ll join a Uyghur family for a warm home-cooked meal and a Lagman cooking master class, learning to stretch noodles the traditional way.
Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 7 - Red cliffs, waterfalls, a “fairytale” canyon
Chase color and texture—red cliffs, misty falls, a “fairytale” canyon—then breathe with the lake at sunset.
Our first stop on our drive today is the famous Jety-Oguz Gorge, where towering red cliffs—known as the “Seven Bulls”—glow in the sunlight. We’ll take an easy walk through the lush valley, surrounded by alpine meadows and pine-covered slopes.
Next, the landscape deepens into the Barskoon Gorge, a stunning mix of fir forests, mountain streams, and bursts of colorful wild berries. We’ll pass monuments to Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, who once vacationed here, and if weather allows, continue up toward the high Arabel Plateau, reaching almost 4,000 meters.
Later, we stop at Skazka Canyon—“Fairy Tale Canyon”—where wind and rain have carved the red sandstone into whimsical towers and ridges. By evening, we reach Bokonbayevo, a peaceful lakeside village, and settle into our cozy Tong Marina Hotel with views of Issyk-Kul. Take a swim, unwind, and enjoy the calm of the southern shore.
Meals: breakfast, box lunch, and dinner
Drive time: 5 hours
Day 8 - Eagle wisdom and yurt-building 101
Stand close to an ancient bond—eagle and human—then build understanding (and a yurt) piece by piece.
We meet an eagle hunter for a close-up look at this living tradition—care, training, and the deep respect between human and bird. In Kyzyl-Tuu, artisans show how yurts are made from steam-bent wood and wool felt, and we help raise one together before sharing lunch with a yurt-making family.
By late afternoon we arrive in Kyzart and settle into a simple hotel—the kind of place where conversations linger and tomorrow’s big views feel close.
Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Drive time: 4 hours
Day 9 - High-pasture ride (or jeep) to nomad country
Choose your path—saddle or jeep—to wide-open pastures where silence, stars, and tea do the talking.
Today’s journey takes us to one of Kyrgyzstan’s most breathtaking places — Song-Kul Lake, perched high at 3,016 meters. From the trailhead, those who wish can ride on horseback for about five hours, crossing the Tuz Ashuu Pass with sweeping views of alpine meadows and endless sky. Others may travel by car and enjoy the scenery along the way.
Lunch will be a picnic in the mountains, surrounded by grazing horses and wildflowers. As we reach Song-Kul, you’ll see why it’s called the soul of Kyrgyz nomadic life — herders spend the summer here with their animals, living in yurts among fields of edelweiss.
Dinner and overnight at a traditional yurt camp, where you can stargaze under a crystal-clear sky.
Meals: breakfast, lunch
Horse Trek: 5 hours. By car: 3-4 hours
Day 10 - Slow lake morning, women’s craft collective
Wake to hoofbeats and morning light; meet the women of Altyn Kol, where craft becomes livelihood and legacy.
Wake up to the silence of the mountains and the soft sound of animals grazing outside your yurt. The morning is free to wander along the lake, take photos, or simply breathe in the cool air.
After lunch, we descend from the high pastures to the village of Kochkor, home to Kyrgyzstan’s finest felt artisans. Here, we’ll visit the Altyn Kol Women’s Cooperative, where over 200 women craft traditional shyrdaks (felt carpets) using ancestral patterns and natural dyes. Watch the process and learn how this art has remained a symbol of strength, creativity, and community.
This evening, we enjoy a traditional Kyrgyz dinner at the hotel, where the manager will share her inspiring life story — a reminder of the resilience and warmth of Kyrgyz hospitality.
Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Drive time: 3 hours
Day 11 - Back to the capital + farewell dinner
Return gently to city pace—steam, sip, or shop—then toast the miles and the women beside you.
Our journey comes full circle as we drive back to Bishkek, arriving by midday. After checking into the hotel, enjoy some time to rest or explore on your own before a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation at one of the city’s spas, featuring saunas, hammams, massages, and pools — the perfect way to unwind after days of adventure.
In the evening, we gather for a farewell dinner, sharing memories, laughter, and a final taste of Kyrgyz cuisine as we celebrate the journey we’ve shared.
Meals: breakfast, dinner
Drive time: 4 hours

MEET Tatiana
YOUR GUIDE FOR THE TRIP
Tatiana has been guiding travelers through Kyrgyzstan since 2016, and it’s no surprise that people love exploring with her. Friendly, thoughtful, and deeply passionate about her country, she’s spent nearly a decade sharing the hidden gems and breathtaking landscapes of Kyrgyzstan with visitors from all over the world.
When she’s not leading tours, you’ll probably find her hiking in the mountains, trying new recipes, or watching a good documentary. Between seasons, she’s worked in hotels, managed a paragliding company, taught beginner skiers, and trained new guides through the Association of Tour Operators in Kyrgyzstan.
Traveling with Tatiana means plenty of laughter, connection, and a genuine look at Kyrgyzstan through the eyes of someone who truly loves it.
