Every SoFe trip is built by women who travel solo, for women who travel solo. Here’s exactly how we look out for you, from the day you book to the day you fly home.
Why Safety Is Personal for Us
SoFe exists because our founder, Amanda, got robbed. She was sipping a cerveza around the corner when someone broke into her room in Mexico and took everything except her dirty clothes. No money, no contacts, and no one she trusted to help.
She built SoFe so no woman who travels solo would ever feel that alone. Every safety decision we make starts with one question: would we send our best friend on this trip?
Before You Go
You’ll feel prepared long before you board your flight.
- Every partner is vetted. Hotels, drivers, guides, and venues all pass the same test: would we feel safe here alone? If the answer isn’t a full yes, it doesn’t make the cut.
- Your Traveler Information Guide. Once your trip is guaranteed, you’ll get a destination guide covering local customs, what to wear, money, common scams, and what to expect day to day.
- Travel insurance, required. Every traveler is covered for medical emergencies, evacuation, and cancellations before the trip starts. It protects you, and it means we can act fast if you need help.
- Meet your guide early. About 7 to 10 days before departure, you’ll join your group’s WhatsApp chat with your guide’s contact info. Ask anything.
- Your 24/7 emergency number. A couple of days before your trip, you’ll get a direct emergency line that’s available the entire time you’re on tour.
When You Land
The hardest part of solo travel is the first hour: the chaotic arrivals hall, the taxi line, finding your hotel in the dark. We take that off your plate.
- Someone’s waiting for you. Land on Day 1 and a driver with a SoFe sign meets you after customs and takes you straight to the hotel.
- A welcome briefing on Day 1. Your guide walks the group through everything you need to know for that destination: how to carry your bag, which areas to avoid at night, local norms, how to get around, and anything else on your mind. No question is too basic.
On The Road
- A local guide for the whole trip. Most of our guides are women who know their countries inside and out, from the unspoken social cues to the best pharmacy in town.
- Private transport. No figuring out buses or haggling with taxis. We get you everywhere on the itinerary.
- Small groups. 14 women max. Big enough to always have someone to walk with, small enough that no one gets lost.
- Hand-picked stays. Boutique hotels and local stays chosen for location and security as much as charm.
- Solo time with backup. Want to wander a market or grab coffee alone? Your guide will point you to the right spots and share tips, and your group and guide are one message away.
If Something Goes Wrong
Most trips go off without a hitch. But travel is travel, so here’s what happens when it doesn’t.
- You need help, fast. Call the 24/7 emergency line or message your guide. Someone will answer.
- You get sick or hurt. Your guide gets you to reputable medical care, arranges transport, stays with you through it, and helps you contact your insurance.
- Your flight is delayed. Our team tracks your flights number, so if you’re just landing late, we already know. If your flight changes, call the emergency line with your new arrival time. If you miss your transfer and you still arrive on the first day, we’ll arrange another one. Don’t worry.
- Your luggage goes missing. File a claim with the airline before leaving the airport, then tell your guide. They’ll help with logistics while you sort out essentials.
- Something just feels off. Tell your guide right away. You never need a reason, and you’ll never be made to feel silly for speaking up.

Every SoFe trip is a space where women can relax and be themselves. We have zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or disrespect from anyone: travelers, guides, partners, or strangers.

Safety FAQ
Are your tour destinations safe for women?
Yes. And some of them are places a lot of women wouldn’t feel comfortable exploring on their own. That’s part of why we exist. Traveling with a local guide, a small group, and a team behind you opens up corners of the world that might feel out of reach solo.
We never send you somewhere we haven’t vetted ourselves. Every destination, partner, and route has been tested on real trips, and we keep a close eye on conditions before every departure. Each trip page and your Traveler Information Guide cover exactly what to know for that destination.
Can I go off on my own?
Yes. Most itineraries include solo time. Your guide will share tips and safe spots, and you can always reach your group or guide by message. And if you’d rather not go alone, there’s always a fellow traveler who wants to come along, and your guide is never far.
What if I don't feel well during the trip?
Tell your guide. They’ll help you rest, find a pharmacy, or get to a doctor, whatever you need.
Who do I contact in an emergency?
Call our 24/7 emergency line. You’ll get the number a couple of days before your trip, and someone is available the entire time you’re on tour. You can also reach your guide anytime through your group’s WhatsApp chat. We recommend saving both in your phone and writing them down somewhere in case your phone dies.
