Book now with $550. Pay the rest at your pace.
7 days starting at $3,999 USD.
Up to 14 solo female travelers.
Some days you’re deep in Oaxaca City, wandering markets with new friends, ducking into taco stands, family kitchens, and Michelin-starred rooms, eating your way through the best food in Mexico. Other days you head up into the mountains, colder air, old trees, and a tiny family restaurant where a woman teaches you her best recipes over an open fire. It might be the best meal of your life.
You’ll grind corn against the stone, press tortillas warm off the comal, pound chiles in the molcajete until the salsa bites back, and spin cacao with cinnamon until it froths. From a Michelin-star table to a grandmother’s kitchen, this whole trip is about food.
And at the end of every day, you come back to the same place, a small boutique house in the heart of the city, beautiful and central, no packing up and moving on. Colorful, warm, and in no hurry.

Is The Oaxaca, Mexico Tour Right for you?
Slow mornings, big meals
Our days are full of food, so breakfast is coffee in your room and fresh pastries delivered to the hotel. You can also use the slow mornings to find a beautiful Oaxacan cafe or just hold out for our first meal together.
This is a food-focused trip
You'll eat things you've never heard of, in family kitchens and over open fire, and the more open you are, the better it gets. Vegetarian or vegan? Covered, just tell us ahead. Picky eaters can manage, but this trip rewards a yes.
Boutique hotels
Room sizes and styles vary a little, one might have a bigger shower, another a touch more space, and they're assigned at random. But every one is beautifully styled, comfortable, and right in the heart of Oaxaca, steps from everything.
Your Oaxaca, Mexico Itinerary
Day 1 - A warm Oaxacan welcome
Airport pickup, settle in, and dinner at Cocina de Humo
You’ll land in Oaxaca and be met for a private transfer to your hotel, right in the heart of the city.
Tonight is the trip’s first real taste of what’s ahead. Dinner at Cocina de Humo, where you pull up to an open fire and watch every course cooked in front of you, tortillas off the comal, stews over the flame, each dish explained as it comes. It’s the wood-smoke kitchen of a Michelin-star chef cooking the food of her mountain hometown, served on handmade clay. A pretty great first night.
Meals: dinner
Day 2 - Clay, family, and ancient Oaxaca
A pottery village with Rufina, a family lunch, and a private Monte Albán at sunset
This morning you head to Santa María Atzompa, a village that lives on pottery, every family working the local clay, known here for its green glaze. You’ll spend it in Rufina’s home studio, learning to shape your own piece by hand, then wander streets lined with it before sitting down to a homemade lunch at her family’s table. Your piece comes home with you.
Then something rare. As the day cools, you’ll go up to Monte Albán, the ancient Zapotec city spread across a flattened mountaintop high above the valley, after the gates have closed to the public. It’s just your group up there, alone on a thousand-year-old sacred site, with a guide who tells its story like it belongs to her. The crowds are gone, the light goes gold and then pink over the valley, and the whole place falls quiet.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
Day 3 - The kitchen of Teotitlán
A cooking class with Karina, then a free afternoon.
Oaxaca hides some of the prettiest cafés in Mexico, tucked into leafy courtyards and old stone buildings, and you’re right in the middle of them. Wander out for a plate of chilaquiles and a good coffee, or just a warm pastry in the sun. Do a little shopping, poke into the galleries, let the city wake up around you. We’ll point you to our favorites. There’s no rush this morning.
Later, you’ll head out to Teotitlán del Valle, a village in the valley with its own deep food traditions. You’ll spend it cooking with Karina, grinding salsas, pressing tortillas by hand, building the slow, layered flavors Oaxaca is famous for, then sitting down to eat the whole spread together.
The rest of the afternoon is yours. Rest, wander, or go back for more of whatever you loved.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
Day 4 - A day in the city, and an afternoon with Nora
The historic center, then an afternoon at a local woman’s home.
Today you get to know Oaxaca itself. You’ll explore the historic center with your guide, the markets piled high with chiles and chocolate and things you’ve never seen, the courtyards, the churches, the streets the color of ripe fruit, with plenty of good stops along the way.
The afternoon belongs to Nora, and it’s the one that’s purely for the joy of it. She’ll cook up snacks in her home, you can jump in or just hang, and she loves her traditional Oaxacan dress so much that if you’re up for it, she’ll put you in it and turn the whole thing into a party. Mostly you’ll sit around, eat well, pour some mezcal, and talk.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
Day 5 - Into the mountains with Marthita
An early drive into the Sierra, a mountain breakfast, a forest walk, and cooking over fire.
An earlier start today, and worth it. You’ll drive about an hour up into the mountains, past the point where the cell service drops away, to a small community high in the pines. Breakfast is waiting, simple, beautiful, and honestly one of the best Mexican breakfasts you’ll ever eat, with a cup of hot chocolate or strong coffee to go with it.
Then a slow walk through the forest with Marthita. Depending on the season there might be wildflowers, or mushrooms left from the rains, and she’ll tell you how she roamed these mountains as a girl, foraging for mushrooms with her grandmother. She’ll talk about the spirits her community believes live in the trees. It’s unhurried and quiet, just the forest and her stories.
Afterward you head back to the kitchen and cook together over the fire, building a meal from scratch and sitting down to eat it up in the cool mountain air.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
Day 6 - Last looks, and a farewell in the agave fields
A morning in the city, then mezcal and dinner out among the agave.
Your last morning in Oaxaca is for soaking up the city one more time. This is the shopping you’ll be glad you did: green-glazed clay, hand-tooled leather bags and shoes, woven textiles, chocolate and coffee to carry home. Take your last photos in the color-drenched center, duck into the shops you walked past all week, and wander with the friends you’ve made here.
Around three, you’ll drive an hour out to the agave fields of Santiago Matatlán, the capital of mezcal, where nearly every family makes it and women who run their own palenques are rare. You’ll meet one of them, taste her mezcal, and hear her story and how she built a life in a craft few women lead. Then dinner, cooked right there among the agave, as the light goes gold and pink over the fields.
Meals: breakfast and dinner
Day 7 - Hasta pronto, Oaxaca
Pan dulce, goodbyes, and your flight home.
One last pan dulce and coffee at your door, then it’s time to go. You’ll have a private transfer to the airport whenever your flight leaves. You go home with a clay piece you made, a bag heavier with chocolate and mezcal, and a group of women who felt like strangers a week ago and don’t anymore.
Meals: breakfast
HAND-PICKED ACCOMMODATION
You’ll settle into one home for the whole week. We book beautiful boutique houses right in the center of Oaxaca, all within a short walk of each other and steps from the cafés, markets, and shops you’ll want to wander to. There are three room types to choose from, and whichever you pick, you’re waking up somewhere styled, comfortable, and perfectly placed to step straight into the city.
CASA ZIÑA
Casa Ziña is a restored historic house with nine private rooms, high ceilings, and a warm mix of old Oaxacan soul and clean, modern design. Rooms are bright and comfortable, with handmade touches. The showpiece is the rooftop: a terrace with a hot tub and a bar, where you’ll want to end every day with a drink in hand as the light goes down over the city.
CASA LEVONKA
Casa Levonka is the more contemporary of the two, a former art residence turned boutique hotel, with rooms curated like a gallery and work by Oaxacan artists on the walls. The rooms run spacious, with design touches like stone bathtubs, stone sinks, and big rainfall showers. It’s also the only house with our two shared rooms, each a loft with its own king and queen. Still unmistakably Oaxacan, just with a sleeker, modern edge.
LA CASA DE LOS PINTORES
La Casa de los Pintores feels like the home of a grand old Oaxacan family. There’s a sweeping living room and dining room, a big beautiful study, and a gorgeous bar. The rooms are large and comfortable, a little more classic than the other houses. It’s the one where the group tends to gather, a place with a real heart to it.
Rooming options
TWIN SHARE LOFT
$3,999
Only two lofts and four spots at Casa Levonka. If you’d rather share and save, this is the one to grab fast. Each loft is big and open, with a king bed on the lower level and a queen up in the loft, so you and your roommate each get your own real bed and plenty of space. The bathrooms are a highlight on their own, a stone sink and a big rainfall shower. It’s the only shared option on the trip, and it goes quick.
PRIVATE QUEEN ROOM
$4,250
Your own private room with a queen bed, at one of our three boutique houses. Rooms vary a little from house to house, some lean more traditional, some more modern, each with its own character, but every one is beautifully styled, comfortable, and right in the heart of the city. Which house is yours is the luck of the draw, and they’re all lovely.
PRIVATE KING ROOM
$4,550
The top room on the trip, a private suite with a king bed, at one of our three boutique houses. These are the standouts: some come with a steam shower, some with a dramatic stone bathtub, some are massive, with rainfall showers and huge vanity areas. Every one is spacious and beautifully done. Which house and which suite is yours is the luck of the draw, but at this level, there’s no wrong one.
We match you with your most compatible roommate
We get it—sharing a room with a stranger can feel like a gamble. That’s why we’ve partnered with a professional matchmaker and psychologist to create a bespoke roommate matching quiz, designed to pair you with someone you’ll actually click with.
Whether you’re an early riser or a night owl, a social butterfly or someone who values quiet time, our quiz helps ensure you’re matched with the best possible roommate. And if you prefer your own space, you always have the option to upgrade to a private room.
No stress, no awkward surprises—just a trip made better by great company.
MEET CECY
YOUR GUIDE FOR THE TRIP
Cecy is your woman on the ground in Oaxaca, and she has been guiding here for years. She knows this city and its people better than just about anyone, and it shows in the way she brings it to life. She’s warm, funny, and endlessly generous with her Oaxaca, the kind of host who makes a meal run three hours because nobody wants to leave the table. Spend a week with her and you’ll see the city the way locals do.
