TRAVELER LOVE

I never thought I’d be someone who joined a group tour—let alone nine. But from my very first SoFe trip, I realized this wasn’t just a tour company; it was a community. Every trip, I’ve met amazing women who start as strangers and end up feeling like lifelong friends. Sure, not every single person clicks, but the vibe is always welcoming, supportive, and just easy. SoFe has completely changed the way I travel, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why Choose SoFe Travel?

Built for Solo Women

Every trip is designed specifically for solo female travelers. That means no awkward third wheels, no feeling like the odd one out—just instant community, shared values, and support from Day One.

Space to Breathe

We build in solo time, always. Want to wander a market alone or skip a group dinner for some quiet? Go for it. Prefer a travel buddy? There's always someone ready to join you. You do you—with the comfort of community when you want it.

No Forced Single Supplements

Forget the extra fees. Our roommate matching quiz pairs you with a like-minded traveler, or you can upgrade to a private room if you prefer your own space.

Is The Nepal + Bhutan Tour Right for you?

Some long travel days

Between mountain passes in Bhutan and domestic flights in Nepal, there are a few full travel days. The views are incredible, but if you're looking to stay in one place, this isn’t that kind of trip.

Altitude and moderate hikes

While we’re not trekking Everest, some hikes (like Tiger’s Nest) are at altitude and require a decent level of fitness. We won't be going on extensive treks, but we will be hiking on uneven ground at high altitudes.

Culture Over Comfort

You’ll stay in beautiful boutique hotels, but this trip is about immersion, not indulgence. Think traditional style, slower service, and local flavor—not high-end luxury or five-star polish.

Welcome to Kathmandu!

Enjoy your final morning in Bhutan before heading to the airport for your flight to Kathmandu. You’ll arrive in the afternoon, and our journey together ends when you land.

We hope this trip leaves you inspired, refreshed, and ready for your next adventure.

Meals: breakfast

Durbar Square, meet the Living Goddess, chat with a former Kumari, rickshaw ride through Ason Market, Nepali cooking class

How many people can say they’ve met a goddess? Today, you will.
Start your morning in Kathmandu Durbar Square, where shrines, temples, and royal courtyards tell stories older than most countries. Here lives the Kumari, a young girl believed to be the living embodiment of a Hindu goddess. She’s chosen in childhood, worshipped by kings, and lives in seclusion—until she hits puberty and retires. (And you thought your middle school years were intense.)

Later, we’ll sit down with a former Kumari, now grown, to hear what life was really like behind the divine curtain. It’s one of those surreal, only-in-Nepal experiences that stays with you.

Next, hop into a rickshaw and dive into the chaos of Ason market, where sacred cows share alleyways with spice stalls and tuk-tuks. It’s loud, colorful, and a total assault on your senses—in the best way.

End your day in the kitchen for a Nepali cooking class, where you’ll learn to make the dishes that have fueled this country for generations. Chop, stir, laugh, and feast. Bonus: you’ll finally learn what to do with all that turmeric you bought in 2020.

Patan Durbar Square, singing bowl class, visit Astitwa NGO, mindfulness session with Minakshi Rana

Today is all about depth—of sound, of spirit, and of connection.

Start your morning in Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu’s quieter, artsier sibling. With its intricate Newari architecture and laid-back energy, it feels like a secret most travelers miss. Here, you’ll take part in a singing bowl session, learning the healing vibrations of this ancient Himalayan tradition. (It’s like a sound bath… but older, deeper, and way cooler.)

After lunch, we’ll visit Astitwa, an NGO supporting women recovering from burn injuries. This isn’t a tourist stop—it’s a powerful chance to witness resilience up close and connect with the women who are rebuilding their lives with courage and creativity.

Then, settle in for a mindfulness session with Minakshi Rana, a local practitioner who blends spiritual insight with grounded wisdom. It’s the kind of pause that realigns you—mentally, emotionally, and maybe even cosmically.

Meals: breakfast and lunch

Morning flight to Pokhara, boat across Phewa Lake, visit the International Mountain Museum, and have some solo time.

This morning, we leave behind the incense and energy of Kathmandu and fly west to Pokhara, a lakeside town framed by snowcapped peaks and known for its slower pace.

After checking in, we’ll boat across Phewa Lake, watching reflections of prayer flags ripple across the water. On the other side, a short hike takes us to the World Peace Pagoda, perched high above the valley with sweeping views of the Annapurna range.

Next, we visit the International Mountain Museum—a surprisingly fascinating stop that dives into the lives, legends, and literal highs of Himalayan climbers.

You’ll have the evening free to explore the shops, cafés, and lakeside scene at your own pace. Think colorful prayer flags, mountain air, and maybe a glass of wine with a view.

Cable car to Sarangkot, optional ridge hike to Kaskikot, Annapurna views, visit Tibetan refugee center

Today’s about big skies, quiet strength, and stories that don’t always make the guidebooks.

We’ll start by riding the cable car to Sarangkot, where sweeping views of the Annapurna range greet us at the top. Then it’s time to hike along the ridge to Kaskikot—or hop in a vehicle if you prefer wheels over walking.

At Kaskikot, we’ll pause for lunch with one of the best mountain views in Nepal—trust us, your camera roll is going to be full.

On the way back to Pokhara, we’ll visit a Tibetan refugee center, where you’ll learn firsthand how this resilient community has preserved culture, craft, and courage far from home.

Meals: breakfast and lunch

Fly to Kathmandu, explore Thamel, farewell dinner

This morning, we fly back to Kathmandu and settle into a new hotel in Thamel, the city’s buzzing backpacker district known for its mix of local culture, street energy, and endless shops. It’s the perfect place to pick up a last-minute singing bowl, scarf, or questionable travel tattoo (just kidding… unless?).

You’ll have the afternoon free to wander, shop, or revisit a favorite café. After days of connection and discovery, it’s your time to roam solo or alongside new friends.

In the evening, we’ll gather one last time for a farewell dinner—a chance to toast to the magic we’ve experienced before heading into the next chapter of this journey.

Fly to Bhutan, drive to Thimphu, visit Tamchog Lhakhang, welcome dinner

This morning, we fly to Paro, Bhutan—where emerald hills, misty valleys, and ancient temples welcome us to the world’s only carbon-negative country.

Your Bhutanese guide and driver will greet us at the airport, and we’ll begin the scenic 1.5-hour drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s quiet capital. Along the way, we’ll stop at Tamchog Lhakhang, a 15th-century temple, and cross a traditional iron suspension bridge that gently sways over the river.

Once in Thimphu, we’ll settle into our hotel and gather for a welcome meeting and dinner, where you’ll get a taste (literally) of Bhutanese hospitality—and maybe a peek into why happiness here is considered a national goal.

Meals: breakfast

Memorial Chorten, try archery, visit Zorig Chusum, Buddha Dordenma, Gross National Happiness talk, Norzin Lam bazaar, custom postage stamp stop

Today is a full immersion into the rhythm of Bhutanese life—and it’s as colorful and curious as you’d hope.

Start with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, where locals of all ages circle the white stupa, spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras in a daily ritual of devotion. Then it’s time to grab a bow and give Bhutanese archery a try. Spoiler: it’s harder than it looks, but a lot more fun than gym class.

At the Zorig Chusum arts school, watch students master centuries-old crafts like thangka painting, wood carving, and embroidery. This is living culture—preserved with pride and practiced with patience.

Later, visit the towering Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, gazing peacefully over the Thimphu Valley. Then it’s time for a thought-provoking stop: a talk on Gross National Happiness, Bhutan’s unique—and genuinely practiced—philosophy for national development.

Wrap up the day with a stroll through the Craft Bazaar and Norzin Lam, where you can shop for local treasures or just people-watch with a cup of butter tea.

And yes, if you’re game, you can get your face printed on a real Bhutanese stamp at the post office. Weirdly satisfying.

Scenic drive to Gangtey via Dochula Pass, lunch in Lobesa Valley, Gangtey Nature Trail (or visit monastery or crane center)

Today we leave city life behind and head toward Phobjikha Valley, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful and remote regions. The drive is long (about 5 hours) but full of jaw-dropping scenery—rolling hills, prayer flag-lined ridges, and distant Himalayan peaks.

We’ll pause at Dochula Pass, a sweeping viewpoint surrounded by 108 memorial stupas. On a clear day, the snowy mountains make this one of the most iconic photo ops in Bhutan.

Lunch is in the Lobesa Valley, then we arrive in Gangtey, a glacial valley known for its wide open landscapes and as the winter home of the rare black-necked cranes. If you’re up for it, we’ll stretch our legs on the Gangtey Nature Trail, an easy and peaceful 1.5-hour walk past pine forests, village homes, and farm fields. If you’d rather skip the walk, you can opt to visit the Gangtey Monastery or the Black-Necked Crane Center instead.

It’s a slower, softer pace out here—and it feels like exactly what you needed.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Drive to Punakha, optional walk to Chimi Lhakhang, visit Punakha Dzong, cross Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge

We leave Gangtey behind and take a scenic 2.5–3 hour drive to Punakha, where rivers twist through rice fields and mist curls around mountain peaks.

After checking in, you’ll have the option to take a short walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to the Divine Madman—a revered saint known for his, let’s say, unconventional teaching methods (read: he wielded a magical… phallus). The temple is playful, sacred, and unlike anything you’ve seen.

Later, we’ll explore the breathtaking Punakha Dzong, a 17th-century fortress set at the confluence of the Mo and Pho Chu (female and male) rivers. It’s one of the most beautiful dzongs in the country—and no photo does it justice.

Wrap up the day with a walk across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge, swaying high above the river with prayer flags snapping in the wind. Equal parts serene and thrilling.

Optional hike to Khamsum Yuelley Chorten, visit Wolakha Nunnery, free evening to rest

Start your morning with an optional hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, a brightly painted stupa perched above the Punakha Valley. It’s a moderate trek (about 1.5 hours round trip), but the panoramic views from the top make it more than worth the climb.

After lunch, we’ll visit the Wolakha Nunnery, a peaceful spiritual community where you’ll get to meet and chat with the resident nuns. It’s a rare window into a side of Buddhism—and Bhutanese life—that most travelers never see.

The rest of the day is yours to relax, reflect, or just breathe deep.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Drive to Paro, visit National Museum, Bhutanese cooking class

This morning we drive back to Paro—a scenic four-hour ride with time to soak in the views one last time.

Once in Paro, we’ll explore the National Museum, housed in an ancient watchtower overlooking the valley. It’s the perfect place to get context for everything you’ve seen: the art, the rituals, the stories stitched into everyday Bhutanese life.

In the evening, we’ll roll up our sleeves for a Bhutanese cooking session, learning to make dishes like the famous Ema Datshi (spicy chili cheese)—beloved across the country and definitely not for the faint of tastebuds.

Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, tea stop at viewpoint, traditional hot stone bath, farewell dinner

Today is the one they write poems about—and for good reason.

We rise early for the hike to Taktsang Monastery, better known as the Tiger’s Nest. Clinging to the cliffs at 3,120 meters, this sacred site is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark—and reaching it feels like a pilgrimage, both physically and emotionally.

The hike takes about 4–5 hours round trip, with a break for tea at the halfway viewpoint, where you’ll get your first full glimpse of the monastery balanced impossibly on the rock face. Cameras out, jaws dropped.

Once we reach the top, step quietly inside to explore the temple complex, where legends of flying tigers and meditating monks echo through the incense-filled air.

After the descent, we’ll return to Paro for a traditional hot stone bath—a deeply relaxing Bhutanese ritual that uses heated river stones and healing herbs to ease tired muscles and quiet the mind.

End the day with a farewell dinner, filled with laughter, reflection, and maybe even plans for your next adventure.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Fly from Paro to Kathmandu and prepare for your journey home.

After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Paro International Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. You’ll arrive in the afternoon, where our official services wrap up upon landing.

It’s hard to say goodbye, but we hope this journey leaves you full of stories, serenity, and new sisterhood that will last far beyond the Himalayas.
