TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

TRAVELER LOVE

"I never thought I’d be someone who joined a group tour let alone nine. But from my very first SoFe trip, I realized this wasn’t just a tour company; it was a community. Every trip, I’ve met amazing women who start as strangers and end up feeling like lifelong friends. Sure, not every single person clicks, but the vibe is always welcoming, supportive, and just easy. SoFe has completely changed the way I travel, and I wouldn’t have it any other way."

Is The Baja, Mexico Tour Right for you?

Ease in open water

The whole heart of this trip happens in the ocean, snorkeling reefs, swimming with sea lions and whale sharks, long days on small boats. You don't need to be an expert, and there's gear and guides for everyone, but you should be at ease in open water and okay with a bit of chop on the boat.

We're on ocean time

This is nature, on nature's terms. Wildlife sightings depend on the season and the day, boat plans shift with the wind and the water, and whale sharks, while very likely in season, are never guaranteed. If you need everything locked in and going exactly to plan, the ocean will frustrate you.

Camping on the beach

Five of your seven nights are in a tent. Your tent is set up and waiting with a real mattress pad, blankets, and a pillow, and every meal is cooked fresh for you. You won't have a hot shower on tap or wifi out on the island.

Your Baja, Mexico Itinerary

Day 1 - WELCOME TO BAJA
Meetup in Bali

Airport pickup, transfer to the Sierra, and a welcome dinner.

Fly into San José del Cabo, where our team meets you and drives you up into the Sierra de la Laguna, trading the coast for cool mountain air and quiet. Tonight you settle into camp for the first time, meet the women you’ll be sharing the week with, and sit down to a welcome dinner under the stars while your guides walk you through what’s ahead.

Meals: dinner

Mountain hike, a swim in natural pools, and a handmade tortilla workshop.

Wake up in the mountains and spend the morning hiking through the Sierra de la Laguna, the granite range that runs down the spine of the peninsula, to hidden freshwater pools where you can swim and cool off. In the afternoon you learn to make tortillas by hand, pressing and cooking them the traditional way, then sit down to eat what you made. Dinner and another night under the stars at camp.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Cactus and boats on the beach, Baja, Mexico

Transfer to Isla Cerralvo, your first ocean safari, and dinner under the stars.

After breakfast you leave the mountains behind and head for the coast, then board a boat out to Isla Cerralvo, your uninhabited island home for the next three nights.

The afternoon is your first ocean safari. You’ll cruise the coastline and slip into the water to snorkel whenever something catches your eye, a reef, a turtle gliding past, a school of fish lighting up the shallows. Keep an eye on the surface too, since dolphins and rays turn up out here all the time.

Back on the island, settle into camp and crack a cold one at happy hour, then gather for dinner under a sky full of stars, likely fresh ceviche from the day’s catch, warm tortillas, and salsa made from scratch, all cooked right there at camp.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Ocean safari by boat, exploring the bays and reefs of the Sea of Cortez.

Today is all about the water. After breakfast at camp you head out for a full day of ocean safari, moving between quiet bays and reefs, snorkeling wherever the water looks good and the wildlife shows up. The Sea of Cortez is one of the richest stretches of ocean anywhere, so expect a lot of company below the surface, tropical fish, rays, turtles, maybe dolphins riding the bow on the way out. Pack in as much swimming and sun as you want, with a beach picnic somewhere along the way, then head back to the island for dinner and maybe some chats with new friends next to the waves

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Baja Mexico sea lion 4

Snorkel with a sea lion colony, a fresh ceviche lunch, and an evening mezcal tasting.

The highlight today is the sea lions. You’ll boat out to a wild colony and get in the water with them, where the young ones are playful and curious and happy to show off. From there you’ll snorkel more of the coral reefs before pulling into a sandy cove for a fresh ceviche lunch. In the evening, back on the island, there’s a mezcal tasting, a slow, easy way to end the day, learning how Mexico’s oldest spirit is made and sipping a few kinds the way the locals do.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

A final morning on the water, lunch in a granite cave, and the move to La Paz.

One last morning of ocean safari before you leave the island, a final round of snorkeling and swimming in the quiet bays you’ve gotten to know. On the way back you stop for lunch in a granite sea cave, tucked into the rocks right at the water’s edge. Then you say goodbye to island life and transfer to La Paz, where a real bed and a hot shower are waiting. The evening is yours to wander the malecón, the city’s seaside promenade, find dinner at your own pace, and sleep somewhere with four walls for the first time in days.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

La Paz, Baja, Mexico, women-only tour.jpg
two whale sharks, Baja California, Mexico, women-only tour

Snorkel with whale sharks, a taco crawl, then a farewell dinner.

You head out into the bay off La Paz, where whale sharks gather to feed in the calm, plankton-rich water, and slip in to snorkel alongside them. They’re the biggest fish in the ocean and completely harmless, filter-feeders that cruise slowly near the surface, so you swim right there beside them at their own gentle pace. It’s the kind of thing you don’t quite believe until you’re in the water looking one in the eye.

Back on land, you’ll dry off and go straight for the food, a taco crawl through La Paz, hopping between the local spots that do it best, one taco at a time. The afternoon is yours to wander the city or rest up, and tonight the group comes together for a farewell dinner to toast the week, the wildlife, and the women you’ve spent it with.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Breakfast, goodbyes, and the transfer to the airport.

One last breakfast together before it’s time to go. We’ll transfer to the airport in San José del Cabo together for your flight home. Until next time!

HAND-PICKED ACCOMMODATION

ISLAND CAMPING

For five nights, home is a tent on the sand, two in the Sierra and three on Isla Cerralvo. And before you picture roughing it, this is camping with the hard parts taken care of. Your tent is pitched and waiting when you arrive, made up with a real mattress pad, blankets, and a pillow, so you’re not hauling or assembling anything. Meals are cooked for you, there’s a cold drink at happy hour, and the bathroom situation is simple but clean.

What you trade for that is a hot shower on tap and a phone signal, and what you get in return is the kind of night you can’t buy in a hotel. An uninhabited island, waves a few steps away, and a sky with nothing between you and the stars.

HOTEL CATEDRAL

After days of camping, this is the soft landing. Hotel Catedral is a bright, modern boutique hotel in the heart of La Paz, right across from the old cathedral and a short walk from the malecón, the seaside promenade where the city comes alive in the evening. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a proper bed and a hot shower waiting, but the rooftop is the part you’ll remember, a pool and bar looking out over the cathedral to the Sea of Cortez beyond, perfect for a sunset margarita after your last day on the water.

We match you with your most compatible roommate

We get it—sharing a room with a stranger can feel like a gamble. That’s why we’ve partnered with a professional matchmaker and psychologist to create a bespoke roommate matching quiz, designed to pair you with someone you’ll actually click with.

Whether you’re an early riser or a night owl, a social butterfly or someone who values quiet time, our quiz helps ensure you’re matched with the best possible roommate. And if you prefer your own space, you always have the option to upgrade to a private room.

No stress, no awkward surprises—just a trip made better by great company.

MEET NISHMA

YOUR GUIDE FOR THE TRIP

Nishma grew up in Mexico City and moved to La Paz to study Alternative Tourism and build a life around the ocean, the mountains, and the wide-open spaces of Baja. What started as a move to study turned into something deeper. Over the past seven years she’s guided adventures all across Baja California Sur, from remote mountain trails and natural hot springs to island camps and the waters of the Sea of Cortez.

She’s the guide who knows every hidden spot, lives for a good adventure, and believes the best travel stories usually start with “I’ve never done this before.” She’s certified as a Wilderness First Responder, in Leave No Trace, Environmental Interpretation, First Aid, and Mexico’s NOM-09 guiding standards, so you’re in genuinely expert, safe hands out there.

When she’s not guiding, you’ll find her outdoors with friends, chasing good food, getting on the water, or plotting her next trip. She never gets tired of being outside, and it shows.

You will need:

  • A valid passport. We recommend at least six months of validity to avoid any issues with airlines.

If your passport is from a country that does need a visa for Mexico, you may still be able to enter visa-free if you hold a valid visa from the US, Canada, the UK, Japan, or a Schengen country.

Entry rules can change, so check the latest requirements with your government or the Mexican embassy before you travel. If you need help or any documents from us, just reach out.

All bookings are subject to our terms and conditions.

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory or you may be refused to join the tour. See our guide for help choosing a plan.

There’s no strict limit, so bring what you want. Just keep in mind you’ll be carrying it everywhere, from the van to camp and back again. Your future self will thank you for packing light.

We recommend a backpack over a rolling suitcase.
