TRAVELER LOVE

I’ve traveled a lot, but this tour with SoFe was something else entirely. Every detail was so thoughtfully planned—from the peaceful moment we spent canoeing through the Amazon at sunrise to the night we shared dinner with an Indigenous family in the mountains. Sacha Lodge was absolutely mind-blowing, but it was the mix of wild beauty, real connection, and the amazing group of women that made this trip unforgettable. SoFe just gets it—this was worth every penny.

Why Choose SoFe Travel?

Built for Solo Women

Every trip is designed specifically for solo female travelers. That means no awkward third wheels, no feeling like the odd one out—just instant community, shared values, and support from Day One.

Real Connection

Almost everyone arrives solo, and 92% of our travelers stay in touch long after the trip ends. It’s not just a tour—it’s a chance to make lifelong friendships in some of the world’s most unforgettable places.

Space to Breathe

We build in solo time, always. Want to wander a market alone or skip a group dinner for some quiet? Go for it. Prefer a travel buddy? There's always someone ready to join you. You do you—with the comfort of community when you want it.

No Forced Single Supplements

Forget the extra fees. Our roommate matching quiz pairs you with a like-minded traveler, or you can upgrade to a private room if you prefer your own space.

Is The Ecuador Tour Right for you?

High Altitudes

The trip includes visits to high-altitude locations like Cotopaxi National Park, where the thin air and higher elevation may cause discomfort for those not accustomed to altitude. It can lead to shortness of breath, fatigue, and headaches for some travelers.

Heat and Humidity of the Amazon

The Amazon is hot, humid, and often rainy. The intense tropical climate can be overwhelming for people who are sensitive to heat or uncomfortable in high humidity, making outdoor activities less enjoyable. However, our air conditioned rooms and evening breezes give some respite.

Remote Locations

Some travelers may find the remote nature of the trip challenging. With long travel times by plane, boat, and hiking to reach the Amazon and other destinations, WiFi and cell signal are very limited in some locations.

Your Ecuador Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Quito
women only tour Ecuador Quito

Arrive in Ecuador’s capital and meet your fellow adventurers over a warm welcome dinner.

Welcome to Ecuador! As soon as you step off the plane, you’ll be greeted at the airport by your friendly local guide who’ll whisk you off to your home for the next two nights, a beautifully restored colonial gem right in the heart of Quito’s historic center. Think sunny courtyards, charming colonial archways, and cozy rooms with authentic Ecuadorian details.

Settle into your space, refresh, and take in the view of tiled rooftops and colorful streets below.

Tonight, we’ll gather as a group for the first time at a nearby local restaurant—relaxed, welcoming, and bursting with authentic flavors. Share stories, meet your fellow adventurers, and toast to the incredible journey ahead.

Meals: dinner

Wander Quito’s historic streets and stand with one foot in each hemisphere.

Wake up slowly and enjoy breakfast at Patio Andaluz (the freshly baked bread alone is worth it). Then we’re off exploring Quito’s charming old town—think narrow cobblestone streets lined with pastel-colored buildings and bustling plazas filled with local life. We’ll step inside the incredible La Compañía Church, where the entire interior practically glows with gold, reminding you Ecuadorians never do things halfway.

After lunch at a local favorite (empanadas, anyone?), we’ll take a short drive out of the city to stand exactly on the equator line. Yes, it’s touristy, and yes, you’ll love snapping selfies at zero latitude. Just next door, at the quirky Intiñan Museum, we’ll do fun experiments proving we’re at the exact center of the Earth—water swirling in different directions, balancing eggs on nails—trust us, it’s charmingly weird and totally memorable.

By late afternoon you’re back in Quito, where you have time to wander, grab coffee, or just watch local life unfold from a cozy street-side café.

Meals: breakfast and lunch

Hike Cotopaxi, then settle into a cozy hacienda tucked into the highlands.

Today we’re swapping Quito’s colorful streets for the wide-open spaces and volcanic landscapes of Cotopaxi National Park. After breakfast, we’ll hit the road, winding through the stunning Avenue of Volcanoes until the towering, snow-capped Cotopaxi comes into view. (Cameras ready, this landscape is seriously spectacular.)

We’ll stretch our legs on a hike toward Cotopaxi’s first refuge, taking in sweeping panoramas that feel straight out of a postcard. The air here is thin and crisp, and you’ll quickly see why Ecuadorians are so proud of this breathtaking region.

Then, we’ll head to Hacienda El Porvenir, a traditional working ranch nestled in the foothills of the Rumiñahui Volcano. This isn’t just any ranch: it’s a place that lives and breathes authentic Andean culture. Think adobe walls, cozy fireplaces, and wide-open spaces where horses roam freely.

After a delicious traditional lunch at the hacienda (think hearty soups, fresh vegetables from the farm, and rich local flavors), choose your own afternoon adventure: saddle up for a leisurely horseback ride across grassy slopes, or dive into a hands-on cooking class to master a few Ecuadorian recipes yourself.

Tonight, under the clear Andean sky, you’ll truly understand why people fall in love with this beautiful corner of Ecuador.

Meals: breakfast and lunch

Shop Otavalo’s famous market, then cook Pachamanka-style with an indigenous community.

Today, we’re heading north to experience Ecuador’s indigenous heart and soul. Our first stop is the famous Otavalo Market, one of South America’s most vibrant markets. Picture a sprawling maze of brightly colored textiles, handcrafted jewelry, intricate tapestries, and rows of spices, fruits, and street snacks—each stall a story, each item handmade by local artisans proudly sharing their heritage.

After soaking in the market’s energy (and probably picking up more souvenirs than you planned), we’ll travel to a welcoming indigenous community, where you’ll experience something truly special: the Pachamanka ceremony. This ancient cooking tradition involves preparing food underground with heated volcanic stones, creating an earthy, smoky feast unlike anything you’ve tasted before.

We’ll spend meaningful time here, touring their medicinal herb gardens, chatting with local women who preserve traditions through their beautiful handicrafts, and learning how this community creatively adapts their culture to thrive today. Women have a modern role in this society, yet are deeply connected to ancient tradition. Spend time with them and be invited into their world and their homes.

Tonight, you’ll share dinner with the community, savoring the flavorful results of the Pachamanka and deepening your connection to the warm, resilient people who make this region unforgettable.

Soak in volcanic thermal pools surrounded by misty Andean peaks.

After the past few days of adventure, today’s all about slowing down, relaxing, and soaking in some natural luxury. After breakfast, we’ll travel through lush green mountains toward the renowned Papallacta Hot Springs—one of Ecuador’s most beloved spots for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The mineral-rich waters here are naturally heated by volcanic activity, creating steaming pools surrounded by misty Andean peaks. Slip into the therapeutic waters, breathe in the cool mountain air, and feel every muscle unwind. (Trust us—your body will thank you.)

The afternoon is yours to savor at your own pace. Lounge by the pools, wander along quiet trails, or even treat yourself to an optional spa treatment. It’s the perfect way to recharge before we set off on tomorrow’s Amazon adventure.

Meals: breakfast

Take a plane, boat, hike, and canoe to reach a luxury lodge deep in the jungle.

Today, your adventure takes a dramatic turn—from high mountains to dense jungle. After breakfast, we’ll board a quick flight from Quito to Coca. From there, the real journey begins: a scenic motorized canoe ride down the winding Napo River, followed by a short, lush jungle walk, and finally, a serene canoe paddle across the lake, arriving at the magical Sacha Lodge.

This isn’t your typical jungle lodge—think gourmet meals overlooking the water, stylish cabins with air-conditioning, and a gorgeous swimming pool built right into an Amazonian lake. Sacha Lodge offers a rare luxury experience deep in the Amazon rainforest, and from the moment you arrive, you’ll know you’ve discovered something truly special. This evening, your expert guides will introduce you to the wonders of the jungle on your first exploratory walk—your Amazon adventure has officially begun.

Explore treetop bridges, jungle trails, and secret river channels with expert guides.

Wake up to the symphony of the rainforest, where the air is thick with anticipation and the calls of exotic birds echo through the trees. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll embark on a serene canoe ride through blackwater creeks, gliding past lush vegetation and keeping an eye out for playful squirrel monkeys and vibrant toucans. The tranquility of the water is only broken by the occasional splash of a caiman or the distant call of a howler monkey.

Next, we’ll ascend the Canopy Walkway, a 940-foot-long suspension bridge suspended 94 feet above the forest floor. From this vantage point, the Amazon unfolds in all its glory. It’s a birdwatcher’s paradise, with opportunities to spot species like the scarlet macaw or the elusive zigzag heron. The panoramic views offer a unique perspective on the dense foliage and the myriad of life it supports.

After descending, return to the lodge for a gourmet lunch at La Balsa Restaurant, where dishes blend international cuisine with traditional Ecuadorian flavors, all prepared with fresh, sustainable ingredients. Post-lunch, take time to relax—perhaps a swim in the lake pool or a nap in your air-conditioned room, serenaded by the sounds of the jungle.

As night falls, join our expert guides for a nocturnal walk, unveiling the rainforest’s hidden nightlife. Spot nocturnal creatures like tree frogs, tarantulas, and the glowing eyes of caimans lurking in the water. It’s a thrilling end to a day filled with discovery and awe.

Spot wildlife, visit the canopy tower, and experience the Amazon like few ever do.

Today, we delve deeper into the heart of the Amazon. Begin with a visit to the Kapok Tower, a 135-foot observation platform offering 360-degree views of the rainforest canopy. From this height, witness the morning rituals of the jungle’s avian residents and perhaps catch a glimpse of a troop of pygmy marmosets leaping between branches.

Later, embark on a guided walk through the forest, learning about the intricate relationships between the flora and fauna. Our expert ecologists, trusted by National Geographic, will share insights into the delicate balance of this ecosystem. Keep an eye out for the vibrant blue morpho butterflies and the industrious leaf-cutter ants marching along the forest floor.

Return to the lodge for another exquisite meal, perhaps featuring the Amazonian paiche fish, known for its rich flavor and sustainable sourcing. The afternoon is yours to enjoy—relax in the hammock on your private terrace, visit the butterfly house, or simply absorb the serenity of the surrounding.

As the sun sets, gather for a farewell dinner, sharing stories and reflections on the unforgettable experiences of the past days. The Amazon has a way of leaving an indelible mark, and tonight, under the starlit sky, you’ll feel its profound impact.

Quito-bound

All great adventures eventually come to an end—but the memories are only just beginning. Before we make our way back to the modern world, take one last quiet moment to soak in the stillness of the Amazon.

We’ll journey back to Quito together, where the tour officially ends. From here, you can catch your flight home, spend a night at a nearby airport hotel, or extend your travels—the Galapagos Islands are calling, after all.

Once you’ve experienced Ecuador like this, it’s hard not to see the whole world with new eyes.

HAND-PICKED ACCOMMODATION

We believe where you stay should be just as powerful as where you go. On this journey through Ecuador, your accommodations aren’t just places to sleep—they’re extensions of the landscape, the culture, and the soul of the country itself.

You’ll unwind in beautifully restored colonial architecture, soak in thermal pools surrounded by mountain mist, and settle into cozy haciendas that feel like stepping into the rhythm of Andean life. One night, you’ll share a warm, communal dinner in a peaceful indigenous village where we stay in a comfortable, guesthouse-style homestay—inviting, authentic, and full of heart.

And then there’s Sacha Lodge. Deep in the Amazon and accessible only by boat and canoe, this luxurious jungle retreat is the crown jewel of the tour. With air-conditioned rooms, gourmet meals, canoe rides at sunrise, and a suspension bridge overlooking the canopy, it’s not just a place to stay—it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

From mountain hideaways to rainforest immersion, every stay on this trip is designed to make you feel something: peace, connection, wonder.

Hacienda El Porvenir

We love this warm, family-run hacienda nestled high in the Andean highlands. Surrounded by wide-open fields and volcano views, it feels both wild and welcoming. With cozy rooms, roaring fireplaces, and that deep, grounding silence you only find in the mountains, it’s the perfect place to slow down and breathe. From here, you can hike, ride horses, or just soak up the spirit of the Andes—this stay is as soulful as the land it sits on.

Termes de Papallacta

Tucked into the Andes at just the right altitude, this stay is all about rest, warmth, and water. The thermal pools are fed by underground volcanic springs and surrounded by lush green hills and drifting clouds—it feels like nature built the perfect spa and then handed us the keys. Rooms are cozy and quiet, and it’s easy to lose track of time here, floating between hot pools and cool mountain breezes.

Homestay with local family, women-only tour in Ecuador.

Homestay

This isn’t your cousin’s spare bedroom—it’s a warm, inviting guesthouse in an indigenous community, more Airbnb-style than anything else. You’ll have your own comfortable space, but the heart of the experience is just outside your door. In the evening, the family welcomes us for a home-cooked meal, sharing stories, traditions, and laughter around their table. It’s peaceful, personal, and full of heart—one of those rare travel moments where connection feels effortless and real.

Sacha Lodge in the Amazon

Deep in Ecuador’s Amazon, Sacha Lodge is where wilderness meets luxury. Getting there is half the adventure—plane, boat, a jungle walk, then a quiet canoe glide across a lake—until the forest opens up to one of the most extraordinary lodges in the world.

Each cabin is beautifully designed with air conditioning, floor-to-ceiling views, and a private terrace with a hammock, so you can fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest and wake to monkeys rustling in the canopy above. Meals are served lakeside and feel more fine-dining than jungle—fresh, creative, and always a highlight of the day.

What makes this place truly unforgettable are the experiences led by some of Ecuador’s best ecologists, trusted by National Geographic and deeply connected to this land. Walk a suspension bridge high above the canopy, paddle down blackwater creeks at dawn, climb a tower for sunrise birdwatching, and head out after dark for jungle night walks.

Sacha Lodge is more than a stay—it’s the kind of place that shifts something in you. Once you’ve been here, the Amazon won’t just be a dot on a map. It’ll be a place you know by sound, by scent, by heart.

We match you with your most compatible roommate

We get it—sharing a room with a stranger can feel like a gamble. That’s why we’ve partnered with a professional matchmaker and psychologist to create a bespoke roommate matching quiz, designed to pair you with someone you’ll actually click with.

Whether you’re an early riser or a night owl, a social butterfly or someone who values quiet time, our quiz helps ensure you’re matched with the best possible roommate. And if you prefer your own space, you always have the option to upgrade to a private room.

No stress, no awkward surprises—just a trip made better by great company.
