You booked. Yay! Here’s how we travel together, so you know exactly what to expect from us, and what we’ll ask of you.
It’s the little stuff that makes a group trip feel easy. Grab a coffee, give it five minutes, and you’ll be all set.
Plans can change, and that is okay
We plan every day of every trip with people on the ground who know these places best. Still, real life happens: weather, road conditions, holidays, closures and wildlife that keeps its own schedule.
When something shifts, your guide adjusts the plan, tells you why and swaps in something just as good wherever possible. Sometimes the order of days changes so you get the best version of each one. Wildlife sightings and festival schedules are never guaranteed, but we always plan for the best odds.
Your guide knows the destination inside and out, and if they ever change a plan for safety reasons, that call is final. It’s rare, and it’s always for the good of the group.
Tipping and money
Most tips on your trip are already taken care of, including hotel staff, included meals and local day guides.
Tipping your guide is the one we leave to you, and it’s a lovely way to say thank you. Most travelers give $10 to $12 a day. On some trips, your driver’s tip isn’t included either, and $5 a day is a kind thank-you for them. Your destination guide tells you which applies, plus how tipping works in restaurants and taxis during your free time.
We also recommend having access to at least $500 for the unexpected, in cash, cards or both. Think of it as peace of mind for a cancelled flight or a doctor’s visit. Bring two cards, keep them in different places and let your bank know you’re traveling.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance is required on every trip. Your policy should cover medical expenses, including emergency evacuation, plus cancellation and curtailment. Before the trip starts, you’ll share proof of your policy and its 24-hour emergency number.
It protects you, and it means we can move fast if you ever need help. Our travel insurance guide makes choosing one easy.
On the road together
Your group is up to 14 women from all over the world and all walks of life. That mix is the best part of the trip, and it works beautifully when everyone pitches in.
Being on time keeps the day flowing for everyone. Making room for the quieter women in the group makes a bigger difference than you’d think. And if anything is bothering you, a roommate issue or the pace, tell your guide early. Small things are easy to fix on Day 2.
Most trips include solo time, and your guide is happy to suggest places to go or help you book an optional activity. Anything outside the itinerary isn’t run by SoFe, so choose with the same care you would at home and let your guide know your plans.
Our code of conduct
Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected on a SoFe trip, including our guides, drivers and the communities who welcome us.
So we have zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, discrimination or violence of any kind, and illegal drugs aren’t allowed. Drinking is always optional, and if you do, we ask that you keep it responsible and within local laws.
Please follow the laws and customs of the places we visit, including dress codes at religious sites, and always ask before photographing people. In the rare case that someone puts themselves or the group at risk, or doesn’t follow a guide’s safety decision, they may be asked to leave the trip without a refund.

What if something isn't right on my trip?
Tell your guide right away so they can fix it while you’re still there. If it isn’t resolved, reach out to our team. Letting us know during the trip means we can actually help.
How do I reach SoFe in an emergency?
You’ll get a 24/7 emergency number a couple of days before your trip, and it’s answered the whole time you’re away.
Can I skip an activity?
Of course. Nothing is mandatory, unless transport or a remote location makes it impractical to split from the group.
Where do I find details for my destination?
On your Before Your Trip page, with your packing list, printable checklist and destination guide.
