Home / Our Values
Safety is a large part of traveling as a solo woman, and making it a priority is important to us. We believe incorporating a healthy amount of safety and awareness is part of any responsible travel plan, and we strive to be a source for other solo female travelers. We offer free self-defense classes around the world and offer trip planning to encourage putting safety first.
We travel solo, but we know we aren’t alone. It’s important to us to cultivate a sense of sisterhood with other solo female travelers we meet along the way. Both on the road and at home, we are always available for a chat with a lonely solo traveler, to be a companion in an emergency, and a buddy anytime. We hope our members are too. We hold meetups around the world to encourage like-minded travelers to connect and build support.
In our travels, we have seen a fair share of inequality in the world, and we avoid contributing to it. We don’t support tourism that exploits people. The products we sell are fair trade when available and a portion of our profits go to supporting victims of sex trafficking.
Promoting animal welfare is important to us. We encourage responsible tourism, which includes choosing genuine sanctuaries to visit, avoiding tourist trap experiences that mistreat animals, and minding that our money doesn’t go to supporting these businesses. We are kind to animals we come across – taking a sick dog to the vet, bringing our food scraps for the cats scrounging the dumpster, and taking a moment to give some love to lonely strays.
From the tours we choose to where we throw our own waste, Mother Earth is always on our minds. We wish everyone cared about the environment, but instead of getting upset, we do our part to keep our Earth healthy. Stay tuned for lists our top tips to travel with a gentle footprint on our planet.
Different thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and beliefs of people of other countries are not always in line with our personal values. We practice tolerance and respect for these differences promoting positive change appropriately but understanding that our beliefs are only our own. We listen, try to understand, and speak with kindness when faced with cultural differences.
