Lima Peru Tour

Day 1

Welcome to Lima, “City of Kings”! Look for a sign with our logo on it as you exit the airport. Our driver will take you to our hotel to relax before our welcome meeting at 6pm. If you arrive around the same time as other travelers, we will bring you to the hotel together. Official check in is at 2pm. We will pick you up any time today, and we’re happy to hold your luggage while you explore the area if you arrive before check-in.

Day 2

After breakfast, we’ll start the day with a city tour of Peru’s capital. We’ll visit San Francisco Monastery and roam the catacombs containing roughly 70,000 human remains. Then we’re off to the central market where you can stick with the group or wander solo a while tasting some fresh fruit and local street food. For lunch, we are going to one of Lima’s top rated restaurants, La Huaca Pucllana, with views of pre-Incan ruins. This afternoon we are going on an easy bicycle tour along the coast. Think street art, statues, rock formations, and street musicians. Meals: breakfast and lunch

Day 3

We’ll jump on a quick flight today to Cusco, where we will wander the streets and alleyways witnessing the marriage between two distinct cultures - Inca and Spanish. We will have lunch at Mama Seledonia, a restaurant that supports young, single mothers and teenagers in rural areas with passion for cooking. After an afternoon of exploration, this evening we will see the bohemian, artistic neighborhood San Blas and taste Pisco while learning the distillation process. Try your hand at making your very own Pisco Sour. Salud! Meals: breakfast and lunch

Day 4

In the morning, we will visit the four nearby Inca ruins, starting with the huge Inca Ceremonial Center of Sacsayhuaman. This enormous structure overlooks the city of Cusco, its constructions are amazing, with huge rocks perfectly fitted. It is said that it took over 10,000 workers 50 years to build it. We continue to Qenqo and Tambomachay. Then we’ll head to a strategic location to do a healing ceremony and coca leaf reading along with an authentic shaman. This afternoon is free to relax or explore more of the city either solo or with your fellow travelers. Meals: breakfast

Day 5
Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas

Today we’ll travel to the outskirts of Cusco through Sacred Valley, heading to the community of Amaru. Some of the local women of the community will show us the ancient techniques of making South American camelid fibers. After lunch in Sacred Valley, we’ll drive along the Urubamba River towards the town of Ollantaytambo. This is an extraordinary Inca place where you will see an amazing rock formation representing the Inca god Wiracocha. Afterwards, you will be transferred to your hotel located in the Sacred Valley. Meals: breakfast and lunch

Day 6
Machu Picchu

This morning we board the train toward Aguas Calientes. This is considered one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, passing the Sacred Valley, descending slowing along the edge of the Urubamba River, until finally reaching the cloud forest. Once we arrive, we will take a bus ride to the Lost City of the Incas, Macchu Picchu. Explore the upper terrace with your guide first, making sure to get that great Insta photo! It's fascinating to be able to gaze down on the city from above and imagine how it would have looked during the height of the Inca empire. After the guided tour, you’ll enjoy the lunch at the restaurant located just outside the ruins. Meals: breakfast and lunch

Day 7
Sacred Valley – Cusco

We have a bit of a later start today before we return to Cusco for a foodie day! We will learn more about Peruvians (and Peruvian food!) with a cooking class that will teach you to prepare traditional recipes handed down over generations. This Cusco food tour takes us to the fresh market and to the beautiful restaurant of Nuna Raymi. We will learn to prepare healthy dishes using the most representative ingredients guided by our Peruvian professional chef. Enjoy a refreshing drink and a three-course tasting menu. To end the day, we will eat what we prepared in a feast of fresh food. Meals: breakfast and dinner

Day 8
Cusco – Puno

Today, we will travel to Puno by train, a unique experience where you can sit back and relax with beautiful views. The first half of the journey is dominated by the magnificent Andean mountains which tower over the deep valleys. It then reaches the gentler, rolling Andean plains, where you may see vicuñas and alpacas. Along the journey, we’ll see some ancient sites and churches and stop for lunch an a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Puno, we’ll be dropped off at your hotel located on the shores of the Titicaca Lake. Meals: breakfast and lunch Drive time: 8 hours

Day 9
Titicaca Lake

We’ll spend the day at the gorgeous and spiritual Titicaca Lake. The lake contains numerous islands whose inhabitants continue to live as their ancestors have in both custom and tradition. Centuries ago, the small indigenous Uros tribe conceived of the islands as a way to isolate and protect themselves from rival tribes, the Collas and the Incas. We will continue towards Taquile Island, which is known for the kindness of their residents and their ancestral skill in weaving. Enjoy typical lunch with a local family in their home. After a bit of a rest at the hotel, we will meet back up for our farewell dinner. Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 10
Titicaca Lake

After breakfast, it’s time to say farewell. You just may fall in love with this magical place and want to stay for a few more days. Let us know if you would like to extend your stay here at Titicaca Lake. Otherwise, we will help you get a transfer to the airport. Check out is at 10am.

We will pick you up from the Jorge Chavez International Airport any time on day one after 8am. If fellow travelers arrive around the same time, we’ll bring you to our first hotel together. More details to follow once your spot is booked.
