New England in the Fall

Falling autumn leaves, a crisp chill in the air, and a hot cider in your hand isn’t just the opening for any good Hallmark movie, it’s also the magic of this New England Meetup Tour.

We start in Boston to marvel at architecture and listen to stories of our nations founding mothers and fathers We’ll make our way into stunning Maine for a coastal feast and hikes though Acadia National Park and the Appalachian Mountain Trail.

Taste your way through Vermont when we visit Stowe, a quaint little village with cider, cheese and Ben and
Jerry’s to taste. More mountains, more hikes, more gorgeous fall colors at Adirondack Mountains before we go to the Big Apple!

Day 1

Welcome to New England! Meet your fellow solo female travelers at 9am for a full day walking tour in Boston. We make our way first to Cambridge for a walk around the Harvard campus with a female student attending the university to explore the beautiful architecture and history of the famous institution. We'll stop for lunch, followed by a visit of the Charlestown and Boston National Historical Park. After this busy day of sightseeing, we will relax in our lovely hotel located near Boston Common. We will have some down time before hopping over to nearby Chinatown for dinner. Meals: lunch and dinner

Day 2
Boston’s Freedom Trail

Today, we will walk The Freedom Trail, which passes through 16 historic sites learning things you probably never knew about US history. Marked largely with brick, the trail winds from Boston Common through the North End to the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. After our lunch in Charlestown, we'll jump on the oldest metro system in the USA to make our way to Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. This is the most photographable museum with beautiful European, Asian and American art. Have an evening at your leisure in the Back Bay, a cool neighborhood that is perfect for shopping and dinner. Meals: breakfast

Day 3
Cape Cod

Along the way to Cape Cod, we'll stop at Plymouth to see a replica of the Mayflower pilgrim ship. We'll follow the coast along the peninsula to see colorful lighthouses set on the backdrop of autumn trees. After a short stroll along white cedars at the Cape Cod National Seashore we'll drive all the way to the top of the hook to visit Provincetown Historic District. "P'town", as the local say, is known for its beaches, harbor, artists, and as a popular vacation destination for the LGBT+ community. After this full day tour exploring Cape Cod, we’ll drive back to Boston for our last night in the city. Meals: breakfast

Day 4
Scenic Roadtrip to Maine

Say goodbye to Massachusetts as we journey onward to Maine! On the drive, we'll pass through sleepy New England villages, like Ogunquit and Camden and stop at sandy beaches, dramatic rocky cliffs, and gorgeous tree canopied streets. After we arrive on Mount Desert Island, our home for the next two days, we make our way into the village of Bar Harbor. If time allows, we can squeeze in a hike at low tide to Bar Island which gives great panoramic views Acadia National Park and the island coastline. It’s one of the few places where the majestic Bald Eagle nests, so keep binoculars handy. Get a taste of Maine’s famous lobster at dinner at one of the great restaurants in Bar Harbor. Meals: breakfast and dinner | Drive time: 5 hours

Day 5
Acadia National Park

The early bird gets the to see the first sunbeams hit the United States on the summit of Mount Cadillac. We will grab coffee and a pastry in the village before we walk on a portion of the famous Carriage Roads. Nearly forty-five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and valleys of Acadia National Park. The walk ends at Jordan Pond where you can relax with an afternoon tea. In the afternoon, sit back and relax with incredible views on scenic 27 Mile Loop Road watching out for the park’s beautiful lakes, forests, and lighthouses. Meals: breakfast and dinner

Day 6
Fall Foliage Drive

After breakfast, we are off to the next New England state: New Hampshire. We'll turn up the tunes as we drive down Kancamagus Highway spotting stunning cascades and waterfalls and making stops at charming villages, like Woodstock, to see the colorful classic New England covered bridges. We drive through the Crawford Notch and Franconia Notch with endless photo ops along the way. With any luck, the leaves will be changing, and this is THE place to see the full color spectrum of the fall foliage. We’ll have dinner before a 3-hour night tour with a local female guide who is an expert at spotting moose. Meals: breakfast and dinner | Drive time: approx. 5 hours

Day 7
Appalachian Trail Hike

Today we'll hike to Lonesome Lake, part of the Appalachian Mountain Trail. This 7-mile round trip hike goes along the cascades to the lake to a cafe where we can reward ourselves with a hot cocoa. This afternoon will have some more options to see other parts of the trail or you can choose to just relax. Meals: breakfast

Day 8
Taste New England’s Best Food

Foodies, today is your day! We’ll start with a visit to Stowe, Vermont where we'll taste our way through the Ben & Jerry’s factory. Next we’ll drive to Cold Hollow Cider Mill to try their famous donuts! Of course, we couldn't come to Vermont without eating cheese. Try all the different cheddars at The Cabot Farmers’ Store before further feeding your food coma with a tasting a tour of The Von Trapp Family Lodge. Wash down all the delicious cuisine with a beer at the Trapp Brewery. Meals: breakfast and enough snacks to make it lunch

Day 9
Mount Mansfield, Vermont

For our last day in New England, we'll make our way up the slopes of Mount Mansfield to hike to Smuggler's Notch. This steep yet rewarding trail brings us to crystal clear alpine lakes which should be bursting with color in the autumn. On the summit, we have stunning views of New England landscapes and the face of Mount Mansfield. Relax in the afternoon or shop and stroll through the artistic and vibrant village of Stowe. We will have a farewell dinner this evening and make plans to to stay in touch! Meal: breakfast and dinner

Day 10
New York City

Have you always wanted to go behind the scenes of a Broadway show? Today’s the day! We’ll take an early drive to New York City where we’ll get to meet and watch Broadway performers as they go through a show rehearsal. This behind-the-scenes tour is the perfect way to cap off our time in the Northeast. After the tour, choose to extend your stay in NYC or share a ride to the airport with a fellow traveler. Meals: breakfast
