Itinerary

Airport pickup & warm welcome

Welcome to Iceland, the most northern country of Europe. Our driver will be waiting for you at the airport with a sign and a smile to take you to our first hotel. Afterwards, you can join your leader and the rest of the group for an optional dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Reykjavik Iceland

Day 2

Snaefellsnes

Start your adventure heading West from the capital to Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Often referred to as “Iceland in miniature,” this beautiful peninsula is the ideal place to start your Icelandic journey. On the way, stop to visit two scenic waterfalls: Hraunfossar and Barnafossar.  As we continue, be sure to have your swimsuit ready for Krauma geothermal baths! Krauma’s gorgeous property has a total of six baths – five warm and one cold. The hot water originates from Europe’s most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver, at a temperature of 100°C (212°F). After a good soak, continue onwards to your accommodation for the night and included dinner in the hotel. If we’re lucky, we might see the Northern lights! Meals: breakfast, dinner. Drive time: approx. 4 hours

Day 3

Snaefellsnes

Explore the dramatic landscapes that Snaefellsnes Peninsula is known for, from one of the most photographed mountains in the world -Mt Kirkjufell – to volcanos, lava fields, basalt cliffs, and tranquil fishing villages. Start with a visit to Snaefellsjokull glacier, an icecap that covers a dormant volcano. Travel onwards to Arnarstapi, where a short stroll along the unique coastal cliffs will reveal rich birdlife. Finally we’ll see Djupalonssandur, a basaltic pebble beach framed by strange lava formations. Our last stop today is the charming village of Grundarfjordur, a quanit colorful fishing village with views of the Peninsula. Finish the day with a delicious homecooked dinner at a local guesthouse which also functions as a working Icelandic horse farm! Meals: breakfast, dinner. Drive time: approx. 3 hours.

Day 4

Reykjavik

Today we’ll return to Reykjavik where your leader will take you on a guided walking tour of the city. After that, we’ll enjoy an afternoon at the Sky Lagoon to relax in geothermal baths that have an almost infinity-pool-like edge and a sweeping view over the ocean. This isn’t just any thermal bath. Here you’ll connect with Icelandic traditions by participating in an immersive 7 – step ritual that will leave you rejuvenated, transformed and connected to the elements. The 7 steps go something like this: Slow down and relax in the lagoon, cool down with the cold plunge, relax with a view in the sauna, refresh in a cold-fog mist, cleanse yourself with a unique sea salt scrub,  take a trip to the steam room, and finally – shower and relax back in the lagoon. After this healing experience, the evening is free to explore Reykjvik on your own. Meals: breakfast. Drive time: approx. 3 hours.

Day 5

Hella

Continue our road trip with a stop in Thingvellir National Park – the site where Iceland’s first Parliament the Althing was established. Then we are off to the Strokkuer Geyser to watch water erupt from the ground up to 60 feet in the sky. And of course we can’t forget the powerful and stunningly beautiful Gulfoss Waterfall. After a morning full of adventure we will visit Fridheimar Tomato Greenhouse, a family run Greenhouse specializing in growing tomatoes all year round, with a gorgeous restaurant on site. Enjoy a delicious country-style, tomato-based lunch inside one of the greenhouses itself. Tonight, our hotel is perfectly located for an Aurora spotting, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for clear skies! Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Drive time: approx. 3 hours.

Day 6

SKAFTAFELL NP

Today we’ll hop along the south coast through lava fields, stopping for views along the way. First up is the picturesque Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk right behind the falling water. Then we’ll get to see a black beach made of volcanic sand. From there onwards to Vik to enjoy lunch in what feels like a remote Viking village. We’ll then stop at Skaftafell National Park, an oasis for otherworldly landscapes, before continuing to your accommodation for the night. Meals: breakfast, dinner. Drive time: approx. 4.5 hours

Day 7

reykjavik

And back to Reykjavik we go! The day starts with a short drive to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon – take a short walk around the lagoon and see the sparkling Dimond Beach famed for the huge, glistening iceberg fragments that drift ashore. Stop in Vik for an optional lunch, and break up the long drive to Reykjavik with stops along the way at Sólheimajökull Glacier and Skogafoss.  Lastly, no trip to Iceland is complete without a visit to the Blue Lagoon! Finish your adventure by immersing yourself in the steamy, mineral-rich waters that are known to  have healing effects on your skin and overall wellbeing. Then join your tour leader for farewell dinner upon return to Reykjavik and reflect on your journey of a lifetime. Meals: breakfast, dinner. Drive time: 6 hours.

    What our travelers say

Best tour guide I've ever had

“We had a great group and we all got along. It’s nice having women from different backgrounds and different countries learning about their culture too. Margaret was the best tour guide I have ever had on a trip. She was a sponge of information. It seems like she knew someone every where we went!” Sarah C. | Iceland Summer

    real friendships were formed!

“There were so many highlights from our amazing and knowledgeable local guide to all of the carefully planned itinerary details. My favorite activity was visiting the glacier cave and exploring the glacier lagoon and diamond beach. I loved that none of us knew each other before the trip and feel like real friendships were formed during and after. Our guide Margret was kind, knowledgeable, safe, and a complete badass!” Stephanie S. | Iceland Summer

loved the guide, people, and activities

It was nice to meet different women from around the world at different stages in their lives. Nice to relate & learn from one another. I loved glacier lagoon, diamond beach, black sand beach, & pebble beach!!” Samantha A. | Iceland Summer
