Social Media and Community Manager Application Step 2

Social Media and Community Manager Application Step 2

Congrats! You made it to round 2.

Social media and community manager: Show off your skills

We are thrilled to invite you to the second step of the interview for the Social Media and Community Superstar position.

We know that “superstar” isn’t a conventional title for a position, but we couldn’t think of one that properly captured this dynamic role. A simple “manager” is someone who is mainly expected to post regularly, engage a bit, and grow a following. We want all that, but that is not the focus of this exciting role.

Our Social Media and Community Superstar will understand the power and importance of community. She will be focused less on landing lots of likes and more on providing our community what it needs to thrive. The best way to experience the heart of SoFe Travel is to join our IRL community on our Meetup Tours. We have big goals for 2023 and beyond, so hyper-focus on bookings while simuntaniously maintaining the strongest community for solo female travelers is the secret sauce we are looking for.

We have a small project for you, an opportunity for you to show us your mad skills in planning, writing, engagement, and creativity.

The Context

We just received some fantastic feedback from our last Meetup Tour (as usual)! We want to shout it from the rooftops, parade it through the city, and televise it on the channel 5 news. But until we have that kind of reach, we want to see how you would use the great feedback from our Meetup Tours as a marketing tool. Below is a photo of her, her review of the tour, and a link to more information about the tour itself.

*The testimonial is real. The photos are real. But the photos are random photos from our tours and are not of Sammy R.

I had the absolute best experience of my life with this company. I have been a member of their group on FB for a long time, and love the community. I saw these trips there for a while, but I never really have the courage to book. I am used to traveling solo and I was a little unsure about traveling with a group of strangers. I WISH I BOOKED SOONER.

I went on the joint Jordan and Egypt Meetup Tour. After visiting many countries in my life and having some of the most memorable trips, this was truly so unique and just THE BEST. Not only was the trip itself amazing, which I will explain below, I was so wrong about traveling with others. The group wasn’t just strangers, it was a group of solo female travelers all coming alone and just as nervous as I was. I instantly made friends and experiencing everything with these women made everything that much better. I really feel like I left with new best friends who I will for sure see again.

I knew I wanted to go to Jordan to see Petra, but this itinerary blew my mind. There was so much more to this country and what impressed me the most were how kind the people are. Our guide was Jihan, and she was a gem. She went so far above and beyond for us, knows everyone everywhere we went and everything about her country, and was a joy to be around. She always knew the best places to eat and made sure my dietary restrictions were taken care of.

In Jordan, there were so many surprises. We visited a few women’s co-ops and at most of the we had homecooked meals and got to sit and talk to the women about their lives and their projects and why they started it. The best day was when we went to a pottery co-op and the founder was there, who is also a woman. At one point we were all painting and the ladies there were so happy we were visiting (so excited to have guests after Covid and also that there were no men around) that they closed the door, asked us to put our phones away, turned up the Bedouin music, uncovered their heads, and we all danced! They taught us their dances and it was funnnn. It’s one of my new favorite travel memories.

Egypt was a whirlwind as well. Sam, our guide, was fantastic – knows everything about ancient Egypt and made me feel super safe. The only thing I didn’t like was the overnight on the felucca because it was cold and hard to sleep, but I see they have changed it in the itinerary now, so that’s good. The evening on the felucca though was so magical, watching the sun set and dancing with the Nubians playing the drums. I could go on and on about Egypt. I honestly don’t know which country I loved more, I am so glad I decided to go to both!

Overall, if you are on the fence, GO! Just book it. I almost decided to go totally solo, but there is no way I would have had the same experience with local people, NGOs, these awesome guides, and of course all my new friends.
